edit: this story really upsets me because FINALLY a white person acknowledges the difference and everybody jumps on him anyway. Nigga is equivalent to dude or man or bro or any other word used among peers. ****** is a derogatory racial slur.

 

Oh Wow ... come on, it's the same word. The difference between 'a' and 'er' is like the difference between 23.4573 and 23.4562. Lets get real, there is fresh and there is rubbish, and using this word is rubbish, even when it's used by 'black' peeps ... that would be like the same as peeps in South Africa using the word 'kaffir', but validating it by saying it's spelt 'kaffa'.

EDIT: Imagine, regardless of who one is, going up to Malcolm X or Steve Biko or Martin Luthor King or Nelson Mandela ... and saying 'Yo, Waz Up My Nigga'?

 

I don't know what kaffir/kaffa means so I can't comment on that. However, I do believe that meaning is derived from context and usage and that you as an outsider cannot tell me what a word I'm using means.

Look at the context. When two black people are speaking to each other and using the word "nigga" are they being derogatory to each other? Are they insulting each other? It's spelled differently, its pronounced differently and it has a different meaning. How can you call that the same word?
