Read by who? I just read it.

No need to be paranoid man. It's a free speech forum(s). On top of that, you retain your anonymity, it's not like anyone knows who you are just because of what you say.

The one thing that needs to be remembered is most people on welfare work, and they pay taxes any time they buy anything anywhere. Remember it's not really money you worked for, everyone pays taxes for the general good of the country, people who get a tax refund are getting it because the government said "ehh, you're kind of poor, so we're gonna take more money from other people to fund your refund"

But the main point is welfare isn't supposed to have requirements outside of economic need. It's supposed to be there to help everyone, you put one limitation on it, then you can put more. This year, drug testing current welfare recipients, and since that cost more money than it saves despite what people want to believe, next year, refusing welfare to anyone with any past drug conviction to cut costs.

Also for what the other guy posted, states are sovereign territory, they can make their own law. Federal law will normally trump it but the DEA lacks the manpower to being making simple possession arrests in every state that allows it. Plus it would cause all kinds of legal shitstorms since someone was doing something that is legal in their state and prescribed by a doctor. So the status as it is now goes on, marijuana law enforcement is generally left as a state issue.

Obama doesn't actually read the questions, the ones with the most votes get chosen and then are given to people in the audience to ask.

This is true, and i agree. I just wish it wasn't abused like it is. I am not the person who says - "look at these lazy fuck's, my taxes pay for there blah blah blah" ... I just have a problem with people abusing a system meant to help people get back on their feet...

And actually in our state they have done some good, they now require people who get any type of gov. financial aid including food stamps to look for a job just like unemployment does, although its still BS cause they don't actually have to prove they looked for a job, just gotta say yea i put in an application this week. Also, if they receive assistance for a certain amount of time, like over 6 months i think they have to volunteer a certain amount of hours at a soup kitchen or some other kind of community center.

I never really understood the point of it, I mean in CT(and I assume all states?), you call in your unemployment over the phone every week, than they ask you if you've been looking for a job. I mean that should be the drug test right there, whoever hits no was obviously too stoned to be using a phone.

So you are also subscribing to the old "welfare mom" stereotype that has persisted ever since the early 70's and was further reinforced in 1996 when Clinton enacted the welfare reforms that were still based on erroneous stereotypes. Nice.

FACT of the matter is that the large portion of people receiving government aid are far from that antiquated and bullshit stereotype. Lots are people who worked for many years and now find themselves out of work due to forces beyond there control, like the knee-jerk reaction of so many company's the last few years when they laid people off because of fears of what "might" happen, thereby ensuring that the economy of this country would take a shit.

I have been unable to find work since I got laid off, along with over 70 other people in just the one location I was working. We have had to get food stamps to feed my kids, and cash aid for a while when my wife's hours were cut to the bone. The people I met there were 75% over 35 years old, had worked for minimum 5-10 years at the same job and were simply laid off.
They do have the "Welfare to work" programs which provide job skills, retraining and require active job searching and/or participation in volunteer programs designed to try to open doors to employment.

When are people going to pull there heads out of there ass's and look around and realize that the majority of unemployed in this country are not unemployed by choice, and low-lifes are a very small percentage of the demographic of unemployed receiving government aid.

Can who lose the fucking myopic stereotypes already!

Did you read my second post on this topic?
I am not sure why you have taken offense really, my distaste is towards those who abuse a system meant to help people, it maybe a very small percentage but it happens..

Like those people who are able to work, but don't care to find a job because fuck it, selling drugs is easier and getting gov money is damn sure easier. There are people like this, i know a few personally.

I was unemployed the whole year of 2008 and much of 2009, i am an electrician, at the time i was doing almost only residential work, so i was affected by the economy. I got an extension on my un-employment after my 7000$ for 6 months was gone. I have absolutely nothing against honest hard working people getting financial help...

Part of the welfare system is to employee social workers and other office personnel.. Without the broke and weary they have no business at all..
I think this story has been told before...
What sorrow for you who buy up house after house and field after field, until everyone is evicted and you live alone in the land...

You didn't really offend me, I just get tired of the same dreary stereotype being put forth when the reality does not support it. Sadly lots of people just assume the stereotype rather than looking at what the demographic of unemployed truly is. Trust me, when I had to participate in those programs I gave them a lot worse then you heard here, because the programs are run based upon the stereotype.
They didn't like me all that much in the "classes" because I pointed out every instance and way in which the program was failing to meet the needs of the people who needed help because they were being treated based on a stereotype that wasn't based in reality. The office I had to go through saw a 500% increase over 18 months in applicants, and it was people like I said, skilled, professional, experienced people looking for work. Problem is the assumption upon which the programs are developed is that welfare recipients have no job skills or experience, don't want to work and have to be forced to look for work. Talking with some of the people who worked there and ran the program, they admitted that they really had no idea how to help those who did have experience and were still unable to find work, people such as myself. I was even asked to draft a letter recommending changes to better address that issue.
They got five pages of suggestions from me :p
I had to sit through lessons on how to prepare for and go through an interview, when I used to be the one interviewing and hiring. Fucking ridiculous!
So it is not just people such as you or the average Joe on the street, but the very programs designed to help are built upon ideas that are not valid and therefore fail to help a lot of people.

The stereotype of "welfare mom" not only effects the public perception of those receiving aid, but also cripples the very programs that are designed to help.

I remember when the Senator from arizona said unemployment shouldn't be extended because it promotes people to not look for work. What a fucking slap in the face that was, not only had i just spent the last year and a half looking for work, i actually hated not working, i like working. s

Where does anyone look for work ?... you can however create your own work, or job for that matter.... Those that want to live above their means are ass out.

Part the reason people dont grow their own food at home. They are afraid the people will think they are growing Cannabis.. Big fucking deal Cannabis..

    Check it out my Hyoscyamus_niger
=Drugs are everywhere in our environment. Why I strongly urge using other drugs to combat the control issues over cannabis... Assuming all drugs were legal, not everyone is going to go out and use them, there isnt a sharp raise in drug use or seeking. Never was. Same understanding of chemicals that alter you mind are those you learn from your Pears on prison planet..

Anyone with common sense and understanding of the english language cant read about the history of all prohibition and research additional mood altering substance and see: Somethings not very right here.

Isn't it something else now everywhere you turn on the Television. Someone is illustrating how the drug war is a failure and treating people with chemical dependency like criminals, has to be the most sicking violation of human rights that there could ever be!..

Forced starvation, Forced medical necessity.. A people that can farm its own food, and medicine needs no doctor or has more fresh foods and produce ... Lives healthier and stronger...
This thing today called the internet. Is a deadly weapon upon the Government. Should you have :Tweeted: all the places you were applying to. Link it to Senator, and using the same platform they use now.. Media as they have always used to attack the issues... sometimes you have to SPAM ..
