Some philosophers of mind have argued that consciousness is a form of user illusion. This notion is explored by Tor Nørretranders in his 1991 Danish book Mærk verden, issued in a 1998 English edition as The User Illusion: Cutting Consciousness Down to Size. He introduced the notion of exformation in this book.

I was burnt out on the Alzheimer's Association's caregiver message forum (after all Mom died in 2008 and I was still there trying to help others and it was time to move on) and I needed something that was not so heavy. My brother Tyrsonswood suggested coming here. It is still new for me and still having fun, so staying for now.
