Not always themnax, it depends how you take it
and where you go with it.
I believe that God manifest's itself into any form
that a person can conceive in order to help that
person progress spiritually. Not everyone who
gives attributes to God believes that their version
    is THE version.

Well, anyway,it's why I remain agnostic. Not a weak kind of agnosticism that would indicate I can't or won't take a stand on this---but a true respect and wonderment at the mystery and seeming endlessness of "it" all,and the admission that I truly don't know what the answers to this whole shebang, in which we are participants ,is about. It doesn't hurt much to admit it.---I suppose I'm just bugged by those who are so all-fired sure about the nature of existance sometimes---but I get over it.

So boys and girls, what have we learned so far about assumptions about god?

Well uncle laxxxy, we learned that when you make assumptions about god it can make you look like a bit of an ass.

And when someone questions your ASSUMPTIONS with logical reasoning and you make a post about how dare they 'assume' that your ASSUMPTIONS are wrong because YOUR facts don't add up or fit the logical order of the universe… well that's just silliness!

So let us tally up the score and see who's really making an ass out of themselves.

    Agnostic:
0 – Agnostics make no assumptions, they look at all the facts and decide not to make a decision.

    Atheist:
1 – Atheists make one assumption, they look at all the facts and decide that the idea of God and all the real God assumptions do not make sense and do not fit in the order of nature and the observed universe. Which is really more of a conclusion than an assumption.

Thus leaving us with the deity inclined and all the true God assumptions as illogical and contradicting as they are:
1- God created everything. – really, who created God?
2- God is everything. – Oh, God created God?
3- God is infinite. – what? Infinitely changing then.
4- God created man in his image – took a few tries, dinosaurs n' all.
    5- God created man in 6 days – LOL!! -----------> /\/\/\/\/\
6- God created the laws of the universe specific for life – apparently he was shooting more for indirectly specific than really specific especially for intelligent life.
7 – God is an all knowing conscious entity – smile and wave to the great spectator!
8 – God will protect me – and your enemies feel the same about their God but it doesn't stop the slaughter, it provides courage for more slaughter.
9 – God has a master plan – a bloody good time was had by all, some extra bloody.
10 – God granted and provided everything good that ever happened to me, coincidentally everything bad is the work of the devil. – God has been sleeping on the job a lot for most of our population.
11 – God is perfect – then why is the devil doing 90% of the work?
12 – God gave me free will – well make up your fucking mind, is God responsible for anything or not?
13 – God will answer my prayers – I'm sure he's pulling your name out of a huge hat right now. Oh nope, he's taking a shit in it!
14 – God will hand out final judgment – and if your crazy assumptions are wrong then there will be no justice.
15 – God needs glorification and acknowledgement – what a fucking asshole, that egomaniac God!

This thread should be called “Questioning my assumptions about God pisses me off”.

There is a good reason why God is an egomaniac. He's a human being. He exists only inside the mind of his believers. He is a mental behavioral trait bred into the mind through millions of years of religious wars and genocides. He's a figment of mans imagination. He is an inner voice mental representation of subconscious desires and self justification.

That's my assumption about God, and it happens to fit the world as I see it perfectly!

What's so bad about death? People have been dying for thousands of years. The 'existance of evil' argument is a load of crap. Evil is subjective. I suppose that raping babies actually feels good to a baby raper or they wouldn't do it. Just too bad for the baby I s'pose. I think it all stems from thinking only about the good of the individual, or the good of the species (Humans), instead of thinking about the good of the whole inter-connected universe, which is what we really are. I come back to the idea that 'God' is just a metaphor for the single unified living entity that is the universe and of which we as individuals are just parts. War, disease, global warming can be seen as good things if they are gonna kill off the cancer of humanity, which is the only thing in the universe that doesn't live in harmony with the rest of itself. Death is a totally good and natural thing and therefore, in the scheme of things, so is suffering. People say 'If God is loving, why does he allow suffering?'. Individuals suffer, but individuals are not really what we are. They come and go, but the whole thing continues and it does not suffer. In that context, suffering is not bad and there is no contradicion between God letting people suffer and loving them. Suffering is what we're supposed to do. The sooner we're all dead the better. Maybe we'll be reincarnated as cockroaches and just be more grateful for what we've got.

You know what is really funny, I don't believe in God because of any other reason then you just mentioned right there buddy. My "conclusion" after looking at the world with a fine thooth comb and looking at it Philosophically/Psychologically/Sociologically/ and of course scientifically, says there is a GOD. Its obvious to me. Very obvious.

    *British Accent*

What's that my good man? Conclusions you say? Who is assuming and who's concluding now?

    ... ... ...

You are right about one thing, this a war that will never end. Non-believers, can't be reasoned with. I've learned that one the hard way. Faith is actually God given, and it's not exactly easy for all to find him.

Believer or non-believer the whole idea is to pop fuck-it-ols and just get along with one another. Be happy and love lots, and be there for one another, no matter what. That's the whole point. Nothing more nothing less.

I isnt as stoopid as me actz, i hav nooticed that dis iz a circular argooment that goz round and round and will nevr end.

    Peace all...

Oh and why does God Allow suffering?

To bring people back to TRUE unconditional love for one another!

    great depression for example.

It was a bitch and a lot of hard work, but people started learn how to get along with one another and work together at small and local levels to over come challenges.

In all great chaos, Love and good prevail.

I recommend the documentary scared sacred for this educational purpose.

I know I know ... If it's supposed to be LOVE why the suffering, well here is the deal... In our society some people think they love and live an ok life but as well all know that nobody is perfect... we all have weaknesses, we are all greedy, we could all be better. We could all be more loving, at any given momment... ... ...

    I mean think about it.

Personally I would REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE... I MEAN TRULY LOVE to live through a great depresssion if the end result would mean me living in a society where nobody gives a RATS ass about whut goes on in Britney Spears and Paris Hilton's lives...

    sighs.

Perhaps all of these problems come from viewing God as some person making decisions and pulling strings, and from viewing death as a negative experience.

Even if the concept of this entire place, time, and consciousness could be explained to you in words... what would it sound like? and could you ever hope to grasp it for even a second?

The universe is a vast and unknown place, to make any assumptions about it, and even the world in general is futile.

Something that's worth considering... in the womb, you ARE the universe. Everything works out perfectly fine until you start involving other people.

Take a look at this thread... those that believe in God and those that don't at each others throats equally, even believing in nothing is believing in something. Haven't you heard? Everyone has THE answer.

Explain to me how you can SCIENTIFICALLY look at this world and conclude the existence of God?

That is absolutely absurd! Especially in a world where humans have this myth that we only use 10% of our brains when in reality we only understand 10%. Scientifically we know that humans have imaginations, we know humans can hallucinate, exaggerate, and flat out lie to each other. We know our memories are subjective and beliefs subject to mass influence. Factually we know that religions rely on and exploit all of these human conditions to suit their needs.

    >>>ALL OF THESE HUMAN CONDITIONS TO SUIT THEIR NEEDS!!!!!

    >>>THEIR GENOCIDAL, WAR MONGERING, WORLD CONQUORING, OPPRESSIVE, THOUGHT CONTROLLING NEEDS!!!!!

SCIENTIFICALLY, explain to me why you believe God, a concept of mans imagination and product of religious manipulation, exists outside of a delusional mental state imaginary concept. Give me one single scientific shred of evidence that suggests this mythological creature from debunked pre-medieval literature exists in the real world.

You have a lot of work cut out for you if you want to SCIENTIFICALLY prove it is the "Non-believers" who are the ones who can't be REASONED with!!!

If I were to write you a book filled with known lies, myths and debunked facts and point you to page 98 where it is written that "The flying spaghetti monster lives on the dark side of the moon". Would it not be entirely REASONABLE for you to conclude that there is indeed no flying spaghetti monster living on the dark side of the moon??

No, but it would be intuitively unlikely that such a creature existed. Bertrand Russell once said that the truly reasonable person wouldn't believe the sun will come up tomorrow. That may be truly reasonable, but on the basis of what Santayana called "animal faith" (basic intuition) it's pretty stupid.

    laxxx.

There is no proof either way. You know that your not stupid.

There is much scientific evidence to support the existence of God though. Much of which I already know by your posts you consider to be more lies and "pseudo-science" too.

At this point I agree with Yeal. I have learned to much in the last few months to argue these points any further. It is totally futile and Useless.

Sorry for throwing in my whut you consider to be vulgar two cents in your world that revolves (according to you) around POO.

    Have a good one.

Sorry bud, we had this one out b4, I aint no walking peice of shit, and i aint gonna be one when i die.

    Peace out.

When ignorance is bred, denial runs deep.

Denial and ignorance are the only way one can grant pseudo-science and lies the same value as true science and fact.

The work to be done is not to look for evidence to validate or reject a fixed idea of God, but to find an idea of God that makes perfect sense of the evidence.

There is nothing wrong with the universe, it is as it is, how it has been and how it will be for infinity - perfect. It is only man's understanding of it and himself that is wrong.

How can the universe be perfect and God exist when we see such evil, suffering and death? The truth is, evil, suffering and death do not exist. They are figments of man's imagination.

Yeah it's a good point, cos those arguments are the ones that a lot of people know and use, for the simplicity. But just one thing -

True, people kill people. But we can't control nature - you can argue that our free will does not affect nature and as God created nature ...

And I think on a basic level, people just find it hard to believe that if our God truely IS all-loving, how can he just watch this happen to his world?

It would be a pretty useless existence if God was our babysitter. God is mistakenly seen as a superman, that He will swoop down and save us. He is also mistakenly seen as a magical genie, that He will grant our every wishes.

Imagine if God prevented every bad thing that could ever happen, and decide everything for us. What would it be like if that were to happen? Personally, I wouldn't want to live in that world, where I'm simply a pawn in chess.

The worst assumption you can make about God is to see him anthropomorphically. If God is all loving, He wouldn't raise any of his creations higher than the other. A rock would be as equally important to Him as any human life.

Human beings are very arrogant by nature, and using our over-clocked ape brains isn't going to make understanding God any easier.
