i was catholic for many years (when i was too young to really decide for myself, but the point is that i learned all about the religion). from my understanding, god doesn't intervene in earthly affairs. so all of those things you mentioned are irrelevant. the only way to make the point you seem to be trying to make would be if a "good" christian ended up in hell and then started to question his religion. i bet someone does...
Although a lot of them do strive to teach good morals. Except for the ones about rape and burning people of course. lol Someone else summed up what I was trying to say alot more directly than I could have... one moment... Yes, thank you.
That is not a catholic belief. They believe God does intervene which why they pray for certain things. Non-interventionism is the belief that God created everything and left it alone, I'm pretty sure. Actually, I think that's deism. Definitely not Catholic.
my priest, parents, grandparents, and CCD teachers all lied to me about what i'm supposed to believe then... yes, god has the power to intervene, and may do so on very rare occasion, but it is NOT to be expected.
The worse things happened the more I turned to my religion. The better things became, the more I turned to my religion.
When good things happen do you praise god? When bad things happend do you blame god? These are not tricks questions.
i don't mind that one so much. there's nothing like a kick-line and splashing beer...singing along off key, loud and proud.
