Attack on Boston Marathon

My fiance's aunt is glued to Fox News and it's blaring through the whole house, so I guess that's what I'm stuck with. They're using names and saying they have facebook accounts and that there are a number of people on there with the same last name that they are assuming are related to them and will probably be questioned. Awesome police work there, using facebook...

The stuff about how Americanized they were is a little creepy to me... Like they were your typical dudes and then it was like someone just flicked a switch and they sprung into action. Like they were programmed. It's weird.

EDIT: Somebody posted this on tumblr. Sounds phony to me. I mean, I like my conspiracy theories, but yeah... No mention of the Russian immigrant brothers, just a young guy:

 

Sorry, that car wash is next to the Deluxe Town Diner in Watertown, less than two miles from where I am. I often go to that diner. I think this is where the big shoot out happened.

A bomb has been found at an MBTA subway station, and an Amtrak train has been stopped because they think a third accomplice is on board.

All Amtrak service to/from Boston has been suspended.

I've been looking at Watertown on Google Maps. Those neighborhoods are huge! I can't imagine anyone searching them all, house to house.

 

I appreciate the blow by blow. I live in Okc and today is the 18th aniversary of the bombing and that is all that is on the news at work this morning.

 

The amount everyone is talking about how this was completely uncharacteristic of the younger one... If not that, then his older brother had a really strong hold on him. Not to say I don't hold him responsible for his actions, but... let's say I really really want to hear his side of things. Chances are good he's just going to be shot on sight and we never will and that just pisses me off.

 

Earlier today the police raided his dorm room at UMASS dartmouth and the university is on lockdown. Someone who lives on campus on the floor just below the suspect just called a local radio station and said he hasn't been sleeping in his room since Saturday.

It seems that face recognition technology hasn't progressed as much as I had been led to believe. The younger guy had a driver's licence, so the state already had a picture of his face, linked to his name and address.

Still very quiet here in Watertown. No SWAT teams have come here yet. Just watching TV like everybody else. Drinking lots of coffee, since I got up so early.

The uncle of the two primary suspects just did a media interview in front of his home. I hope it gets posted to YouTube right away. In broken English, he delivered the most profound speech on this subject I've heard all day. An uneducated man, he spoke from the heart. It was a thing of beauty. I wish I could write something 10% as profound as what he said.
