Nooo, not chips. The great British foodstuff. tax the crappy "fries" you get in McShite, but not the great British Chip from a proper chippy!
Yes, ban it all; it's filth. Seems vaguely dictatorial, but with all the health warnings etc about obesity and bad food, strikes me some people should have the choice removed, bedfore the NHS buckles under the pressure.
I personally banned McDonalds from myself about ten years ago. I think if people would just decide to do something similar, they'd end up being banned by way of lack of interest. But people have to decide that for themselves and do it collectively. The hard part is that it's a conscious effort, and a lot of people can't be bothered to think about that because they're too busy thinking about other things...
it seems to me that once people realize how much better they feel when they're not eating that crap all the time, they'll lose interest anyway. i have no problem with stopping there occaisionally, nothing wrong with that. but there are people who literally eat fast food every day! that's obscene. at least in socal we had a huge variety of healthier fast food options, like el pollo loco, for example.
I agree with the royal fanatic for once, banning MacDonalds would only do good. But no party are gonna do it because, as McD's has become an necesity almost for some, they would not get votes. And thats what they want, votes!
I think we live in enough of a Nanny State without banning McBollocks. Not that I think people should eat that kind of crap, but then you'd have to ban greasy spoons, kebab houses, chippies etc. In other words half the high street would close down, and then you'd have to ban the supermarkets from selling burgers and chips to cook at home. I'm all in favour of promoting public health campaigns, but the decision has to be down to the individual as to how they eat.
Hahaha, well said Freewind! I haven't patronised mcdonalds for about 12 years... horrible company, horrible food.
The food is absolutely bogging, but thats mainly to do with profit motives: create the most food you can at the cheapest price possible, with bonus points for addictiveness.
did anyone see how charles's organic cornish pasty is even more calorically and nutritionally challenged than a big mac? sometimes good intentions blind someone to common sense, i think.
I patronised McDonald's only the other day. "Good day sir," said I, "I realise, judging from your less than satisfactory burgers, that you are quite clearly a fast food establishment of ill breeding. Nonetheless, I'm sure that even you, McDonald's, for that is your name is it not McDonald's? have sufficient good taste as to recognise my brilliance. Is that not so, McDonald's?"
Yeah, but pasties are well nice! Probably not Charles', but my Nan makes proper Cornish pasties (being Cornish and all!) and they're lovely jubbly!
No we shouldn't ban mcdonalds. Since the Health brigade came along, Mcdonalds has withdrawn salt from its food. This now makes the food tasteless. Did you know that salt helps the brain work better and helps you stay hydrated? This Anti Salt culture that is developing- I can see it now. In the future, the NHS will be inandated with dehydrated people who have been brainwashed into thinking salt is completely bad for you. In which case, lack of salt will have a string of repercussions and consequences. Actually it should be our choice what we eat. We don't need a nanny state. If people think we do then lets bring back the berlin wall and Adolf hitler and have the government issue out ration booklets excluding salt
i've made some great ones, too, learned from gramma. they're so evilly tasty. but i happen to think that the occaisional burger is nice, too. the whole concept of banning anything creeps me out. i hate people telling me what i can and cannot do, buy, eat, drink or say. makes me nervous just thinking about it. i know beer is my greatest weakness and i'd likely lose a good 20 pounds if i stopped drinking it entirely, but i don't wanna. next thing you know, people will be banning beer and alcohol again entirely because some stupid fuckers can't control themselves. i think it's stupid.
I haven't eaten that crap since the 60s ,when I threw up some nugs and fries. However,as with most things that are bad for us--tough shit.Education is the key.If people want to blow themselves up like fat sacks of grease-with all the information that's available-the fuck ya' gonna do?It's the same with drugs--people are still doing meth, crack, ect. The before and after pictures of those people are horrendous.Yet,don't we all know about the results of these choices? You can't stop self-destructive behavior with laws. It's been tried.Societal ways change slowly. If enough people stop eating the slop--they(fast food joints) will change.
they have the best damned apples at mcdonalds. when we were first moving in over here, we ate out a LOT. and kai just fell in love with their apple slices.
