i think to me it wouldn't matter if the band broke up or they stopped making music. its all about how a particular song or cd made you feel and impacted your life.
I have a friend who got that really big on his back. Almost everyone who knows him has laughed about it behind his back lol
i will for sure be getting the sublime sun tattoed on my back sometime soon. not just because sublime is my favorite band, also because i fucken love the design.
im getting a tattoo of a picture off of the ness creek festival poster does that count as a band tattoo, it wont have any logos or names in it, just a picture
oh....I thought you meant like a bracelet tattoo around the wrist or ankle. I have a couple of girlfriends with flowery vine type wristlets that go all the way around the wrist........those are cool. peace Honor
i have been thinking about getting a Dead inspired tattoo.....they will always be apart of my life. my whole family is saturated in the Dead culture. i've been around it forever. its the band that wrote the soundtrack to my life.
I saw some guy in AC with a bob marley tattoo i never seen any other musical type tattoo so far... only the bob marley one...
I've had the same realization (the Dead soundtrack of life thing years ago), in those exact words you used & I so I got my Dead tattoo & although this is a useless comment I'll go on to say that I later realized (maybe, in fact, after some what of a Dead burnout experience) that the only way I could continue on without the Dead was to make my own soundtrack, thus I learned the guitar & now write my own 'soundtrack'. Although, at least currently, my music has virtually no Dead similarities (minus subtle JerryG guitar sharities) ... quite dark and elusive, compared to a Kurt Cobain songwriting against a Black Sabbath/Jane's Addiction musicdrop :X
I have the crown and eye logo of Bob Dylan's.. I love the tattoo, I've had it since I was 16. Even though I do not listen to Dylan as extensivly as I once did, this tattoo has the same signifigance of any other tattoo to me. When I was severely depressed "Last Thoughts On Woody Guthrie" somehow made it okay. I thank that poem with saving me from that depression. So, yeah I have a "band" tattoo, don't listen to him as much as I did, and highly doubt I will EVER regret it.
lol, yeah right! I found the next pic while surfing at TattooArtists.org and it reminded me that someone here had asked for LZ's symbols... so, there ya go! edit: Illegal Reference blah blah... anyway, it was a picture with Led Zeppelin's symbols (Led Zeppelin IV) tattoed on some guy's arm...
I have a friend with a Woody tat. He is, himself, a travelling singer songwriter, so having that influence makes sense. However, the work was great...seven years ago. Now my buddy and Woody have aged, the tat quite badly, and he is facing decisions on repairs for it. He looks like he's been doin' soem hard travellin', himself. and to whomever asked, that was my hair three-four years ago. longer now.
Yeah Woody Guthrie was amazing I can see where profile tattoos could need touched up, but I didn't get a tattoo of dylan, just his logo.. hehe It still needs touching up though
I've been thinking of getting a tat... As music is my main passion, I wanted something to do with that... Nothing obvious though... Just something with subtle connections with me and the music I love.. I've seen so many people with the Zeppelin symbols... people who aren't even ardent fans... Makes me a bit sick actually... I'm still very undecided.
