it rained like hell today, driving barefoot was easy, if shoes get wet they sometimes can slip. just wondering, is it easy to drive a stick shift, i dont know how.

The first time I drove barefoot, it felt kind of funny, but now I'm usually barefoot when I drive because I exert a greater control of the pedals. As far as slipping goes, that has NEVER happend.

I have a stick shift and shifting barefoot is easy and no problems with wet feet either. the toes help grip .. try that with shoes on, YEAH Right.

In Alabama it is in the driver's handbook that you study when you get your license that shoes are required.

I think its stupid and dangerous.

I had on dress shoes with slick soles, walked through wet grass and got in the car. My wet shoe slipped off the clutch causing me to "jerk" through a stop sign and I got a ticket for running the stop sign.

    Shoes suck.

According to Urbanlegends.com, it's not required in Alabama (nor elsewhere in the US).

Here in Australia, I think it's law to drive with shoes. However, I almost always drive barefoot. I only ever put shoes on if necessary ie: work, formal dinner, etc

I can't drive barefoot.. at all. It's not comfortable for me. I've done it a few times and my feet have ended up hurting on shorter trips that I normally take, and that never happens to me. I've never had a problem with slippage with shoes on- wet shoes, heels, flip flops.. never a problem with anything. I guess that's just me though.

I drive barefoot all the time. I think you can feel the pedals better than with shoes. My mom used to tell me that it was illegal to drive without shoes. Anyone ever heard anything like that? Legal or not, I'm barefootin it!

I learned how to drive barefoot and think it's much safer to do it barefoot than with shoes.
