UPDATE 7/18: Bomb blast at Syrian Defense HQ in Damascus takes out top security officials including the Minister of Defense.

Fighting all over the capital city! I've been watching/listening to the video below and the fighting is non-stop, blasts and gunfire now constant!

OH SHIT! I was watching this one live feed at the front line of the rebels, they were firing at the gov't troops when I heard a loud (but muffled) boom off in the distance. One second later, we lost the feed...and it hasn't come back! Guess I just watched a group of freedom fighters lose their lives...in real time, half-way around the world.

I wish I could read the arabic titles.

Reports indicate that four of the leading defense officials have been killed in the bombing at the Defense ministry. Shots have been ringing out near the Syrian Parliament.

So they got the Defense Minister, the Chief of Security (Assad's brother in law), the Interior Minister and the Vice-Presidential aide Gen. Hassan Turkmani.

That has GOT TO instill fear among the leaders of Syria. Right now both sides realize if they lose, they die.

I was reading how Assad has been personally involved in all these defense discussions. Perhaps he wasn't physically there. Maybe teleconferencing from his Palace Bunker.

Assads forces are now shelling districts less than half a mile from his palace. That means the rebels are advancing quickly towards Assad...

Things are happening so fast now. Rumors swirling that Assad himself was injured in the attack on the defense ministry and that he has been taken out of the city to Latakia.

This info comes from a source within the Assad regime.

If Assad does not appear on TV in the next 24 hrs, you can assume he was hurt or possibly killed.

Meanwhile firefights have broken out all over the city.

    What will happen tomorrow?
