Thanks guys. Yeah the guesthouse I stayed in had just been fumigated for bedbugs, but I got bitten a lot, pretty itchy bug red lumps, some of the other guests had been complaining that they could still see them crawling around the metal frames of the bunkbeds. I've now managed to move to my new apartment & so far no bugs have followed me. I put all my stuff including travel bags into large black bin liners and tied them tight and sat them in the sun, apparently that kills them. So far so good, nothing in my dreads as far as I'm aware, I wasn't worried that they would living in my hair, but that I would carry them with me. Been surfing a lot here in Asia so I've probably drowned the f**kers!

    BTW - I'm a girl!

YOU ARE THE IDIOT!!!! bed bugs are NOT dust mites. Get informed! and no, not all beds have bed bugs, but all beds have dust mites.

eek i know how you feel! I've been living in a halfway house last few months, and the one house/intake house had em BAD, and they are damn near impossible to get rid of. They feed off your blood, their eggs and babies are microscopic and clear, and they can live up to a YEAR without food. Extreme heat can kill em, I know putting all your clothes n stuff in trashbags out in the hot sun for a few days kills em. I've been worried about this too, im moving outta here to colorado next week and i dnt want the little fuckers to nest in my dreads either, I try to use the hottest water i can stand in the shower and pray they dont live there. bleh just thinking about them makes me itch all over. i hate bed bugs! theyre a plague

I don't think so, atleast not for the long term. Take a nice hot shower, check your dreads. This sort of thing really gets to me, I'm always hearing about fungus and bugs in peoples dreads and I never know if it's just like one of those rare cases or if its really common. I used to have dreads and just started the backcombing process..I have pretty short hair and it's taking me awhile still and not all of it wants to do as I say GRRRR do as I say hair!...prob just leave it to do its thing au natural..but um...ya it always bugged me. The thought of bugs in my hair so I don't blame you for posting this thread. It's interesting.

This was posted a year ago now, I don't think OP has bedbug problems anymore. If she does however then wow, nasty bitch.
