This guy is a douche, but a good review of Pumking nonetheless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-aHiR2Exj8"]Southern Tier Pumking (2013) | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews - YouTube
Supposedly Jim Koch travels to Bavaria every year to hand select the hops that are used in SA's 'Boston Lager'.
i stopped watching him after he had one review that the beer skunked or something and he pored it down the drain then gave the beer a C. i cant take anyone seriously if they poor a beer down the drain and dont give it an F. then in the comments when i told him he was retarded for the score he went on to compare his review to bud lime and how that would be an F....now bud lime isnt a good beer but i wouldnt poor it down the drain so it would still be better than the one he reviewed. (wish i could remember the name but dosnt matter i guess, its not one i will ever have)
Tonight I am drinking Duvel Rustica from Brewery Ommegang -- not only one of my favorite American breweries, but one of my favorite breweries. Period. As its name suggests, this beer is a take on the original Duvel, but an American farmhouse take on it. Ommegang was actually started up by Duvel Moortgat in 1997, so the two breweries are closely connected. Ommegang is like the American branch of Duvel. Anyway, this beer is fucking amazing! I would say it's even better than the original Duvel. It's a bit more mellow in its flavor and, as the name suggests, it has a rustic quality to it, very much characteristic of farmhouse ales made with brettanomyces yeast. Whereas the original Duvel is a Belgian-style golden ale, this is a Belgian-style WILD golden ale. It's definitely worth the $12 I paid for this bottle.
Now I am drinking Pumking, with half the 22 oz. bomber already gone. I started drinking at 12:15, polishing off the Duvel Rustica in under 30 minutes, and now I am half finished with this bomber of Pumking at 1:00. Needless to say, I am feeling the effects.
Sounds yummy. I've only had Ommegang Abbey Ale, and Hennepin. And I fucking loveeeeeeee Hennepin... because Farmhouse Style Ales are my absolute favorite. (Saison Dupont is probably easily my favorite beer, ever) I miss drinking beer.
i see your age birdman so i expect a follow up of....(best old man voice i can do) back in my day a bucket of beer was a nickel. thats right we used to send the kids to the pub to get beer and they would come back with a wooden bucket filled to the top...although some times the kid would spill the bucket on the way home and go off to his room stumbling up the steps.
Even those days a bottle of beer costs less than 10% of what the Ratman paid. Any kind of beer, no matter how 'exclusive'. Except when you buy it in some posh club.
im confused...with inflation why wouldnt a bottle of beer cost less than 10% of what the ratman paid? i saw an interview with a member of pink floyd from the 70's and he was complaining that some places were charging a pound for a pint.
Which member of Pink Floyd was it? It's hard to imagine someone as rich as they were at the time complaining about the cost of beer.
the turn of conversation made me think of the fact that you can get a bottle of wine for under $10 or for some wines you can pay $4000. actually there are some wines in the 6 figure range. beer is pretty cheap when you consider the most expensive one i have come across is $1800 compared to $100,000 bottle of wine no wonder beer is a working mans drink.
Drank $6 Goose Neck IPA at an all day blues festival in downtown. 4 of them over a 7 hour period. Then snuck another Pyramid IPA before the night was over.
like i said this was the 70's that the interview was from and it was the early 70's so its not like they were at the level they were when dark side and the wall came out. also i saw an article one time talking about how cheap nick mason was because he would shop around for the cars that he wanted and when he found the lowest price he would still haggle to get a lower price. anyway the interview was in a book i have but i have dozens of books about floyd so it would be tough to find the exact interview to see who it was.
