i am a good canadian and wear my running shoes all year long with boots on the bad winter days....after maybe 3 months the nikes are thrown into the washing machine...

i use the old pair/new pair rotation where i buy new ones before the old ones are too unsightly and then i slowly phase out the old ones

i NEVER wear my shoes without socks...the insides are relatively clean...i wouldnt eat a gummy bear out of them but i have no problem stashing dope in them or putting valuables in them when visiting someone

i step in chicken shit everyday of my life...what is on the bottoms of my shoes doesnt bother me

i have had many surgeries on both feet and ankles...double fusions with multiple pins and plates and screws...

i ask permission to leave my shoes on at peoples homes because i need the support they offer...never been turned down

Yep, you'd have shoe pass at my place. Because there is a reason.

If you step in poop daily, do you rinse soles off outside? That was my childhood rule with horses, goats and two types of egg birds on the property.

I don't think I could stretch washes of my shoes to three months. Even with socks for the enclosed shoes. (as opposed to sandals)
    I rinse soles frequently.
I hand wash my work shoes weekly, and I'm out of them when I have a client. They are for walking in common areas of the spa.
Honestly, if the insole came out easily, I'd wash that weekly and shoes as needed.

Funny thing, though. One Sunday, which is a solo day for me, I went barefoot all day. The floor looked clean, but my feet were charcoal grey by days end!
So I mopped the floor and scrubbed my feet.

Yes, I barefoot because I'm easier to wash than shoes! ;)

I rarely wash my flip flops. The white ones get dingy so I scrub them every once in a while.

I'm just a lazy stoner, can't be held responsible for my own actions... pssh.

I think many people misinterpreted my earlier post.

    I mean to say,

I hate walking barefoot in public.

If you want to do it, do it just don't complain about other people giving you shit about it. I wasn't exactly saying "fuck off for being barefoot" but "fuck off for complaining all the goddamn time"..

In the end, no we don't have rights because we all do whatever thefuckwegonnado anyway.

Rights are an imaginary tool created by governments to make us think we mean something to them other than money.

It very well can be gross. I've stepped on snails on dog shit, but shoes are still worse.

sidenote: I agree with everything dazedgatsby just said, although I would've worded it differently. We do have rights, but not because any group of people gave them to us. I think we're on the same page though.

Oh, and I don't hate being barefoot in public, I just agree that you shouldn't complain about it, which I don't.

Ah. True colors at last. Takes one to know one Sir.

Particularly telling that you felt the need to minimize Shakti by emphasizing his/her short period here. Very hip of you.

Fair nuff. Ya a few comments came across as complaining. Not really much diff from venting about getting shit for other behaviors, clothing, lifestyles, etc.
I do though disagree with your take on the source of rights. Ya, there are gov't rights that are pretty much a game, sure. But I feel a central belief of progressively leaning folk is that there are many self evident universal rights.
One should be free to pick and choose who they associate with. Asking people to remove their shoes when visiting, or don't come barefoot, or stay out of my store cause you have no shoes, all should be one's own free choice and so then, a right.
    Or, whatev. :)

Seriously thanks, but don't worry it's not an issue I don't have hurt feelings or problems of acceptance :2thumbsup: If I wanted to answer questions I would have, but sometimes it's just not worth typing because you can almost predict the response.
Oh an BTW it's 'she' :)

Well he/she shouldn't enter into it either. Just because someone is newer somewhere, using that in response to a comment is rather weak sauce. It's just a way of marginalizing someone rather than having a conversation.

    But welcome anyways newbie :)

It's not gross in my opinion, either... but it seems to be horrifying, judging from this reaction I got, when doing my Saturday grocery shopping barefoot, and riding the tram:

"Relax, lady! I'm just walking barefoot...!"

Lol ...funny picture. She either looks shocked beyond belief, or totally mesmerised.

The look may have been because a total stranger was taking a picture of her on a tram, though? :p

Before I snapped the picture, she was alternately gaping at my feet, then into my face, then back at my feet... I took the picture of her, after she had repeated that routine several times. :D

Haha, yeah, those girls... there was a group of six of them in those matching piggy-pink cop caps... [IMG]:policeman: looks like they were on their way to some weird motto party... and wearing those things, they were so bold as to giggle about my bare feet... talk about fashion sense, there.

    Wiggling bare toes,

So, if bare footing, distract by wearing an obvious hat?

Barefoot is best. When my soles are black or dirty it feels like I did a lot. I feel lazy when my feet look more clean. Besides, dirt and grime is something a shower will take care of.
