being green Vs. being a hippy

I didn't mention the climate, the hole in the ozone lets oodles more UV into the lower atmosphere, and in effect, loads more onto people, radiation isn't a climate issue, it's energy sitting around because people felt like nevada was a great place for some mushroom cloud shaped fireworks..

fuck the climate, I don't even care if we caused it, we can adapt, and the animals that can't, sad as their passing is, is just a furthering of evolution, maybe in a thousand years we'll have a slave class of highly evolved bears, whatever, ethical questions to be dealt with later.

 

Well, thanks for actually reading it! I'm not assuming that most people on here are hippies, but I was writing in response to what some people wrote, who seemed to come off as very hippie. I'm actually very glad to see many different view points here! I mean, shit, I'm a conservative (now did I open Pandora's Box?!)!

If the idea of world peace is a good idea then yes I will speak out for it. I have asked no one to agree with, conform to, or confirm my ideas, nor have a put down any ideas except maybe that one about world peace and communism being one and the same. How can world peace be achieved? Not by mankind all being the same, contrary to the earlier posts from people in reply to mine. Its about mankind striving to live and work together as a people not a bunch of hateful beings who care only for themselves. You may believe in God or Budda but that doesn't mean we can't get along. People are just so stuck on the idea that no one else matters its only ME, ME, ME.

so um.. society is corrupt. i buy it. i mean duh and i didnt read kc's comments after this so it might have already gotten said but this bugs me... society is corrupt. you want to rise above and be what society SHOULD be. why even call yourself a hippie then and be like "us hippies" this or that... any REAL hippie and this is the catch 22 cause maybe you should look up the word hippie and it's meaning... a REAL hippie does not conform to societies standards as you are suggesting you do... so why label yourself? be YOU and be an agent of change but replace the word HIPPIE with something like um REAL PEOPLE or PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO CONFORM. Cause you are seeming dumb by labeling yourself.

um tell us something we dont know. this is juvenile and it's called IDEALISTIC. sure in a perfect world.. everyone would get along and fucking sit by a campfire and sing songs and defeat everyone's hurt by saying love love love. wake up. it's a nice ideal. it will NEVER happen until you take that ideal.. you see reality and the REAL situation... stop smoking weed and listening to the grateful dead and talking about being a fucking HIPPIE. that wilL NEVER change the world. to create your ideal you need to see the world as it is, not how you want it to be, and you have to fight for peace. or if you dont wanna fight, do something else. go sue the government for taking away our rights. that would at least be trying to be a real change that COULD eventually lead to world peace. but until you start acting dont talk to us like we are dumb. most of us are here because well... you figure it out. you're just talking to people that are a little more advanced then you. go learn a dip then come talk to us.

exactly. an IDEAL. but it's sad that such a HIPPIE would have to go to wiki to tell us what the fuck world peace is. some of us have been fighting for a long time for world peace. yet i get the impression and if im wrong, im sorry... that you think because you see the way the world "SHOULD" be and you are a hippie... whatever the fuck that means that you just think you are better then the rest of us and by knowing what SHOULD be happening.. somehow that will create change. it will NEVER.

true but there is something that thus far no one has pointed out about the original question. when it wasnt "cool" to basically make the smallest impact on yourself, the environment and those around you it was much more difficult to find products and much more pricey. I know for as long as I can remember I did my best to buy the things that have the least negative impact on both myself and the world around me. It would often be so expensive though... and the KEY to answering the question originally asked DOES have a lot to do with money and time. When it was less wide spread, sure it was generally people who cared enough to go pay more, find the stuff, etc.
HOWEVER I couldn't afford to buy tp and laundry detergent from even seventh generation because it is soooo much more expensive.
NOW there is more of an awakening and the prices are going down, the big name brands are starting to do "green stuff" and it's more readily availible. People just need to apprieciatte that it is more cost efficient... and people who could not AFFORD in the past to buy such things... well, they are now in your local mass produced grocery store and the prices are cheaper because of consumer demand. I don't like to act kinda snobby like "oh i was buyin this shit before" just be glad it's availible and cost efficient enuf now that more people CAN and/or WILL live it.

i lived in navy housing in the early eighties. my dad still works in San Pedro, though he lives in garden grove. the guy who delivers his Press Telegram shows up hauling ass up the road at 4AM, tires squealing, slams on the brakes, throws the paper at our house as hard as he can, then hauls ass back to long beach. i don't think he likes Dal very much.

 

some of the dollar stores have the best, cheapest green cleansers. my mom's manic for them.

my mom LOVES her little prius. her mileage is EPIC. i want one. i saw my first smart car in town the other day. not very smart for a mother with a couple kids, but cool looking.

 

He loves it... well hell, i love it ,too. He commutes an hour everyday for work it has saved us a bundle.We went on a road trip in it to CO in JAN ,too pretty nice
