To answer the first question, it was simply an active thread someone just posted on, and I took a look. Pretty simple. I had no idea this was a hippie forum by the way, since most people aren't hippies here. Maybe in this section but not others. Miliatary recruiters should most certainly be banned from any part of thhe schooling system. It's disgusting encouraging people not even a quarter of the way through their life expectancy being brainwashed into going and dying for little to no reason whatsoever.

There's a high school in our county that has miliatary training (Army/Navy/RAF) as part of it's curriculum. People can opt out, but then they have to spend large amounts of time doing dull work. Conditioning children into killing machines is stupid and wrong.

Listen Neuroptican, don't let good old stev90 fool you about his alleged 60's experience. I have asked him numerous times as to why he doesn't post his age, curious isn't it? Unless he's at least 60 he has no more 1st hand 60's experience than you or I. Fact is he NEVER answers the question as to his age and therefore must be considered a fraud. Outside of that, I like the guy.

 

To all those who want to kick the military out of college's. I see nothing wrong with that, however, those schools then should not be eligible for federal money.

Ask them if they thought the US Army ever did any good?


THEY and those like them, stopped the Holocaust. I dare any one of you to ask a holocaust survivor if the military is full of baby killers, wife beaters, puppy killers, sub-human morons.


Think HE shares your view of the Army? If HE would be alive if not for them??Please go ahead and tell me we shouldn't have gotten involved. Tell me how the Army if full of those war mongering, civilian raping, killing machines? You hate them until you need them.

Some of you need to get out of your cozy protected cocoons. You all take for granted the peace and tranquility that is the USA. You never need to worry about armed invaders and as such you can't imagine the need for a military. So lucky are we. But if we were vulnerable to land invasion, by those who wouldn't allow you the freedoms you enjoy today, who would gas you and burn you, you'd be curled up in a fetal position, crying for that same US military to save you.


If it weren't for the US armed forces, many of us would be among this pile. Or at the very least speaking German in a slave labor camp.

I simply cannot believe that some of the posters here are so naive and blinded by sheer hatred of authority that you can come out with these comments about the military. Yes, there are bad apples, as in ANY profession, but how is it you are so blinded to the good they have done??

 

That was then, this is now. Things are getting worse. The country is getting worse. Our president and politicians are evil.

 

That's like saying all modern day Germans are genocidal maniacs, or all British are slave trading colonial invaders. Or all mongols are mass murderers, or all Jews are Jesus killers. It's flawed, the second world war was a war of defence. The US has not fought a war of defence since then, aside from the 1st gulf war. Nor have the British (you could say the Falklands was, but we didn't exactly own them really). This is not an argument about whether or not the miliatary can do good for the world, it's an argument about whether they should be allowed to brainwash people who haven't even left school yet to go and die for a false cause.

The sad irony is that young people are brainwashed by the government/military that they are old enough to kill and die, and yet are not allowed to smoke pot. :jester:
