ISIS itself will be what eliminates ISIS, only a matter of time before they turn on each, or the concept gets old But there will always be something like it, you are just talking about that regions version of yocals who grow up, the only choice to earn money join whichever militant group at the time. I could say eliminate poverty and that will remove the threat, but there will always be the educated financed ones with a god complex as well And even if somehow we managed to eliminate all terrorist, political parties would still need to come up with ideas to scare people into voting for them, it would just shift to global warming nonsense, or the war on harsh language, the war on overdue library books
Here's a Bernie speech I just listened to on Free Speech TV that he gave at the Sister Giant conference in L.A. last March. It's long, but pretty good. https://youtu.be/p7gLDw_9oRw
Yeah, not so much. I'd have to hear an example to prove that point, 'cause I can't think of one off-hand. At least, not about Dems in general. Obviously there are individuals who are outside the average, like Jim Webb or Menendez (the senator from NJ). But yes, Islamophobia is a huge part of why Repubs would deny a candidate who practiced Islam. There isn't anywhere near that kind of ignorant hysteria (about anything) on the Dems side.
I wanted to listen to it, but at over an hour... I can't sit still for that long, lol. I also wanted to "Like" the post, because I KNOW that speech is good (every Bernie speech is good)... but apparently I've reached my daily Like limit. (Seriously annoying... I get limits, but it should allow for at least double the amount of Likes I'm currently allowed to use!)
Here's a shorter version of Bernie. A recent interview on MSNBC. I really like the way he refused to be suckered into talking about Hillery and the emails and stuck to his message. https://youtu.be/eCSnWL3Der0
Ah yes... I saw hat when it was on. Good stuff... he rocks! I just saw he's holding a town hall in Iowa... tonight I think. Possibly as I type. ... just checked ... Yup, apparently he's doing several town halls and meetings between yesterday, today and tomorrow. I really want to know what kind of attendance he's getting. I need to go look up info or something... lol
I went to a Bernie Sanders campaign event tonight. His ability to excite the crowd was much better than I had expected, after years of seeing him mostly in quiet settings on TV. It was the first time I had heard him speak for long enough to cover all his positions on all major political issues, and I can't honestly say that I disagreed with anything he said. This event, attended by more than nine thousand people, was free and open to everyone who wanted to come. Quite different from Hillary Clinton's last appearance in this area, when she was running for President in 2008. Admission to that event was by invitation only. Even though I had put in quite a few hours working as a volunteer for her campaign, I didn't rank high enough in the pecking order to get in. I hadn't given enough money. Sanders doesn't do events of that kind, which says something important to me about him. There were very few black people in attendance, even though the metro area has a relatively high black population. Without significant enthusiasm from black voters, Bernie stands little chance of winning.
The crazy part is that if he touted his work on racial equality and what he's done for the cause, he would probably have a great support from them!
That's convenient, as we're planning on moving to Vermont. Eventually. Hopefully next year. (And hopefully they legalize pot next year, too!)
Did any of you catch this response from an Evangelical pastor about Bernie's speech at Liberty University this week? It's worth reading. I definitely wasn't expecting that. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/09/16/how-bernie-sanders-won-the-heart-of-an-evangelical-liberty-university-grad-audio/
Bernie's speech to Liberty U. was the best political speech I've heard in years. Meanwhile, Hillary is boring me to tears.
Yeah, I read that Latinos, and blacks are not sure of Bernie. Hence, his poll numbers are low amongst those folks.
Bernie says the darnest things: "You don't necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country. I don't think the media appreciates the kind of stress that ordinary Americans are working on." Ok Bernie so how is limiting sneaker and deodorant choices gonna help starving kids? Lots of kids rely on their parents who work theses deodorant and footwear jobs to put food on the table.
