Fear and Loathing is my favorite drug movie probably... You guys are listing alot of movies that only have weed in them... he asked whats your favorite DRUG movie... not WEED movie.
Cristiane F-Wir kinder vom bahnhof zoo (1981 with quest David Bowie) Fucking DEEP movie. More deep then Requiem for a dream and Traffic. Americans propably don't know it because it's a German movie. It's a true story about a 13 year old girl in Berlin who gets hooked on Heroin. Amazing movie.
Ray Liota's character is a drug lord who does mounds of cocaine... Anywhos... Trainspotting! Very well done, and although the book is better, cause it's in scottish, still is emotionally gripping and realistic. Plus the dead baby scene still gives me nightmares... damn i haven't been that scared since the origional night of the living dead.
Fear and Loathing Requiem for a Dream Blow Traffic Trainspotting Especially Fear and Loathing and Requiem tho.
look man. does it matter how old i was when the movie came out? or how old I am now? the only thing that matters is that it's a drug related movie that I enjoyed. In addition, who the hell actually does understand that movie?
Class, here we have an example of an "Elitist". They are even worse on the internet. "What! You disagree with my opinion? Then you don't even understand drugs! You can only enjoy movies that were released when you were 18. Same goes for music! So please throw away all DVDs of films made before 2000."
because unless you understand the references and timeframe of that movie, it's CRAP, personally i dont watch movies just for "trippy" parts, but hey, thats you.
yea i disagree with your opinion, what u gonna do about t? everyone can appreciate old movies, but movies that RELY on you knowing events, issues and references to pop culture as well as characters and areas which u have no knowledge what so ever about, how is it possible to appreciate?? thats like saying, yea i can appreciate world war 2 because i heard there were some bad people that died in it and yea..i do consider myself an "Elitst" becuase i do consider myself better then most ppl on this forum wanna fight about it?
.................. Ok well I personally really like Requiem and Blow both do a decent job of being up-front. Both showed the glamorization and humitliation of the situations, which seems so appropriate. There are a million drug movies out there. But the way both of these movies ended seemed to ring very true. *shruggs* I love 'em.
Every time drug movies come up on these forums, someone talks about fear and loathing being the quintessential one. It never fails then that a group of KIDS, usually 14-15 years old, talk about how great the movie is. And then others tell them they don't understand the movie and they argue that they do yada yada. DejaVoo was classic for not understanding it but loving it. Stories, found in movies and novels, often have a lot more than meets the eyes. Fear and Loathing is no exception; the film adaptation of Hunter S Thompson's novel is filled with refereneces to the culture of the time and events that occured. With the knowledge of these events, the meaning and value of the story is greatly increased.. A large percentage of young kids (I'd say 98%) do not have even a basic understanding of many of the references. Therefore they may enjoy the film on a superficial level but do not understand Hunter's story, for it is far more than a tale of one great drug experience. If you want to understand Hunter S Thompson pick up one of his books, don't just watch a great drug movie. Half way through the first Avs Canucks tied at zero.
Requiem for a dream all the way. Very unique movie among the drug related ones. I think that fear is loathing is cool the first time you watch it, but loses much interest.
i like fear and loathing, but i dont really understand the story line. and the end is kinda sad, but its a great movie
