I just listened to some batten clips, she's nothing special. Jimi Hendrix, among others, redefined what can be done with a guitar. They raised the bar, one batten has'nt even begun to reach yet. Granted, she's a great guitarist, but what hendrix and clapton were doing was on a whole other level.
I'm going to have to go with Tina Weyland of the talking heads - though this is bass guitar and I wouldn't classify Talking Heads as rock.
very true, but the post is best female guitarist, of which NONE can compare to Mr. Clapton, Hendrix, et.al. what Jenifer Batten is most noted for is her technical ability and two-handed tapping technique we're not comparing women and men here (not singling you out, backtothelab, there are other posts comparing male and female guitarists )
I was replying to stoon's post, about Jenifer Batten, not the threadstarter's post on female guitarists.
Bonnie Raitt is a great slide guitarist. It's a shame that she don't put out blues albums anymore. Oh.... I see you said "Rock"..Sorry... I'll say the original Veruca Salt team of Nina Gordon and Louise Post.
Raitt, Tedeschi, and I would even say Joni Mitchell, and Me'Shell NdegéOcello is hands down the best bass player. Bob
