To the person that said Big doesnt come close to pac is just dead wrong. Pacs music was poetry? Most of it was filler, half his albums really arnt that good only putting them out to get out of a record deal. With that being said pac is sick (one of the best) but big is just as sick. BIG only put out two albums and both were instant classics. I dno any other rapper whose can say that every one of their albums is a classic.

P.S. I mentioned eminem in my last post because he has gotten way to many responses for best rapper.

Big and Pac were really one in the same. how anybody can not see that is beyond me.

As for Eminem he has to be regarded as one of the best rappers of all time. He's definitely the most versatile, and on complex lyrics he's almost in a class of his own. He has definitely made some questionable songs, but if you try to deny his lyrical ability I say you're just being stubborn.

 I find Pac's music to be very poetic. The way he was always talking abut his own death, as if he knew it was going to happen exactly when it did, is very poetic. BTW, when I was referring to his music as poetry, I was referring to his more gentle songs. Those are the ones I listen to most often. I still don't think Nas can even think about fuckin with Pac on any level.

For the sake of the thread, I think it's pretty obvious that, by so many people comparing him to Tupac, Nas obviously beats out Jay-Z.

INDESCRIBABILITY, i'm not being stubborn but eminem is a piece of shit sellout wangster rapper. Hes got some good shit, and hes a bomb ass freestyler, but dont kid yourself lyrically he is not one of the greatest.

    and to TOPNOTCH STONER

You should check out some for real Nas shit not jsut the stuff you've heard on the radio and you'll see why nas is king. ALso biggie rapped often about his death (first and last album before he died was entitled "ready to die" and "Life after Death" came out shorty after his death).

I know all of that. Two of my favorite songs EVER are Biggie's "Suicidal Thoughts" and Nas' "Smokin". Those shits are amazing, but nowhere near being as good as Pac's WORST songs. I guess I'm just biased, as Tupac is the first rapper that actually got me interested in rap. It's a loyalty thing and I will never favor anyone over Pac, regardless of their talent. Pac is the greatest, period.

His more gentle songs? Those were few and far between my guy. The most poetic song I can think of from him was the renowned, "Dear Mama", but it doesn't compare to the delivery of Nas. Especially with the latest release of his. Streets Desciples is on a whole different level than anything Pac ever put out. Had Pac lived he most certainly would've matured as signs of that maturation were more and more prominant nearing his death, and his music would've evolved as such. Pac had great potential, but that potential was never reached sadly enough.

As for him talking about his own death, it wasn't prophetic, it was realistic. He knew he'd gotten himself involved in something over the top with Suge Knight and Death Row as a whole. I wont say he didn't know it was coming, but if he did it wasn't a vision, it was pure circumstance.

Check out illmatic by Nas...its better than anything Tupac every put out. Some other classic nas jams not on illmatic are Purple, The Message, Doo Rags, Thugs Mansion (with pac), Nas is like, Get down, and on and on but if you havnt heard any of those check em out cuz they are all sick.

P.S. in his Prime eminem could spit some for real shit.

Piece of shit sellout? Ahahahahahahahahaha..... back this statement up. Please. Don't go making rediculous statements without reasoning. It makes you sound like a 15 year old TRL fan ;)

No offense is meant by that btw. I'd just like to know your reasoning.

I don't doubt Nas' lyrical skills, he's amazing, but IMO Pac is on a whole different level than anyone that ever picked up a mic. The intensity and the passion that Pac put into his songs is one of the many aspects of his music that puts him on a completely different plateau than any other rapper. Nobody can fuck with him. Regardless of anything I hear for the rest of my life, I will never EVER favor anyone over Pac.

Im just saying check out all those Nas jams and I think you might be changed (I used to feel the same way about Tupac). And to the guy that likes eminem see his last album as to why he is a sellout or even the album before that. Em has gone whack he used to be sick im nto gonna lie tho.

I've heard most of those songs, and I was impressed, but not nearly enough to sway my opinion. Pac was, is, and always will be my favorite. I will be smoking a blunt to some Pac songs on my death bed.

Same with Nas. They are both legends in their own right. I just happen to like Pac a lot better, but that's just a personal preference.

seeing as how i had a huge argument about rating musics quality wich i would NOT like to get into agin....lets review the facts....shall we?

    heres 2 pacs.....

    Album.. RIAA Certification

    2pacalypse now Gold
    Thug Life Gold
    sfm n.i.g.g.a.z Platinum
    Loyal to the game Platinum
    Me aginst the world 2xPlatinum
    still i rise 2xPlatinum
    Better days 3xPlatinum
until the end of time 4xPlatinum
    R u still down? 5xPlatinum
    the 7 day theory 7xPlatinum
    All eyes on me DIAMOND

    and nas's....

    QB finest Gold
    illmatic Platinum
    The firm platinum
    I am 2x platinum
    Nastradamus Platinum
    Stillmatic Platinum
    Gods som Platinum
    Streets Disciples Platinum
    it was written 2x Platinum

(give or take a platinum or 2)

though this is flawed logic....(2 pacs hits were earlier)....the number differences here are rediculous......

im pretty confident that i have heard EVERY song written by nas, and 2 pac......and my favorite rapper is nas hands down.....

and yes nas IS king.....but thats ONLY because 2 pac is dead.....

to emphasize the importance of that last sentence.....il say it agin a different way........

if 2 pac had lived that day....and never made another song....he would still be king

^^^The numbers speak for themselves. Though, even in death, Pac is still the King. He is still influencing the best artists making records today, even Nas.

I would never go by record sales too determine whose the greatest mcee (That would put Nsync and britney spears up for all time greatest performer/musicians). Even so with all the sensation that surrounded his death of course he was gonna be sellin mad records. I think it would be interesting to see what pac would be like these days if he was still alive. And if he was alive and didnt put out any new songs he wouldnt be king because there is a growth and maturity in Nas' career that tupac never had a chance to have.
