I like The National as well. They sound a bit pedestrian, but their music is solid. Boxer is their best one. They are somewhat like Interpol, but with a more... adult sound. Their drummer is very good, too.
Pink Floyd are great song writers...Especially the song The Dark Side of the Moon. Peep it and take notes ladies and germs. I'm a poet and respect their written process. brilliant in a way.
I grew up listening to Alice n Chainz...My favorite song is Heaven Besides You, both for its brilliant instrumentals, lyrics and delivery and composition (fantastic intro)/ IMHO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DmmLAicrQA"]Alice In Chains - Heaven Beside You - YouTube Then we got Rage Against the Machine...Very great lyricists in a genre of rebellion mixed in the truth movement 20 years before it became cool. Loved this song even before the Matrix came out ( I know, I'm so cool) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wauzrPn0cfg"]rage against the machine - Wake up - YouTube
I can't listen to that song anymore...It's dead to me. I heard it so many times that it just does nothing...music has to 'move' me. To each their own though. But the lyrics are good on paper, funny how you get a different emotion reading them over hearing it. Oranges and apples. What about it made you panic kat? (I think that song was built to do that to people).
I think Dark Side of the Moon was their best work, only that it has been so beaten to death on the radio that it's lost it's magic. The lyrics to Eclipse, the synth and sequencer work on On the Run (featuring the legendary Snyhti-A, by the way, a synth so versatile that it's nearly impossible to program the same sound twice, done by pulling and pushing transistor pins rather than soley turning knobs and flipping switches / patch cables), the rhythm to Time, etc all of it is insanely fantastic, but it does not stand up to something like Animals or Atom Heart Mother because of it's commercialization.
I thought the same thing, but being that I'm surrounded by so many like minded, attractive and intelligent friends, plus worshiped by women and men alike, I did not feel the need to point that out in order to be cool in front of forums people.
Speaking of which... how come I never go over 477 posts? I've been stuck here for like a year? EDIT - There it goes. It must have gotten stuck
The only track from Dark Side of the Moon that I can't really stand to listen to on the radio anymore is Money, in the context of the album I can still enjoy it. Time has such an amazing, unique vibe to it that I don't think I could ever get sick of it. When that solo kicks in on Time, makes me feel like I'm soaring and the lyrics Speak to me more than they did a decade ago.
Yea, it's one of my favorites. Klaus Schulze was a relatively famous user, but it has appeared on many great albums, my favorite of which are those by Richard Pinhas. You can still get them, they still make them brand new..
The idea of waking up one day and my life has been wasted and I can't turn the clock back and fix it when I finally know what I should have done - 'no one told you when to run / you missed the starting gun'
