Do people choose to forget the new millennium part here (which sounds like the essence of this thread to me) or is it really not obvious enough that the most traditional metal was made when the traditions themselves were being made :p

Pagan Altar - Mythical and magical is some awesome traditional metal from this decade. Saw them live this weekend, pretty awesome shit!:D

I think Witchcraft sounds pretty traditional as well at times

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqgmgBazJ-8"]YouTube- Witchcraft - Chylde of Fire

    I was born past midnight
Beneath the gloom of the darkest moon
My mother was a burning witch
And my father was a preacher

From that night on I lived in
The shadow of my elder's deeds
I was the son of rape
And the spawn of preacher's lost faith

    Dear mother, dear father
I didn't ask to be born
Why did you let me leave
When you didn't care at all

    :cheers2:

I prefer Icarus Witch and White Wizzard's first lineup (aka Holy Grail)

The actual traditional bands, I personally don't give a shit about... weather they got huge, made history, people copied off of them or what. It doesn't make them good, it just makes the accessible to people who more or less don't really dig metal in general.

It doesn't make them good that they're traditional because when they were doing it it wasn't traditional but something really innovative and new.
The ones that got copied a lot and/or got huge and made history are generall considered good because they were fucking awesome, not because they're traditional indeed

If you feel that way about the people who pioneered the style, I wonder if you are one of the people who more or less don't really dig the style in general.
