From the list Substitute & Kids are Alright My favorite is Pictures of Lily followed by Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere
yes it's definitely rockin... thats fine tho... it needs no reason , nor explanation... just pure great rock & roll... ahhhhhhh... my ears are in heaven!
oh here's a link where you can hear the beautiful scream Roger Daltrey let's out. ahhhh. http://www.retrocrush.com/archive2004/coolsongs/02.html
Well, Pete says that Roger studders to symbolize that the speaker can't convey his emotions clearly. However, I thought that I had read somewhere how that idea actually came to be... can't remember. And on topic... the BEST Who song? That's really tough, but: "A Quick One, While He's Away" from the album A Quick One (1966) Simply amazing "mini-opera" song. Also, as others have said, Tommy is amazing! My favorite album off all time, actually. Pete Townshend has actually said that Tommy was naive, but I see it as his best work... perhaps he would take that as an insult. Anyway, all of The Who's work is great (save for the post-Moon stuff), and they were one of the greatest live acts ever. Just check out the album Live At Leeds and the DVD of The Isle Of Wight Festival in 1970. Pete and Keith never fail to amaze me...
oh cool... that makes sense! Now I will never be scared of that song again. The Who hasn't been the same since 1978. The rest of the guys are still cool, but it just isn't the same without Keith Although "You Better You Bet" is an okay song. In fact, it's a pretty good song except for the lack of strong drums. As for Tommy, whether or not he was a messiah does not matter. We owe him thanks for getting Roger to grow his hair and start smiling more. That alone is enough to make it a great album... but no, IT GETS BETTER! hahaha. Now I'm just being strange but oh well. I can understand how Pete would call it naive looking back. I think it is more of a writer thing than having that much to do with the album itself. Many writers (myself included) are embarrassed when looking back on things they did earlier, no matter how great they were. Or maybe he geniunly dislikes it in which case, nevermind him! They were great live too. and every time I hear Pete play that guitar I sit in awe in front of my radio and think , "WOW! I want to do that!" all in good time ~~~~peace~~~~~~~
i thought he did it so it sounded like he was gonna say "wh dont you all just f-f-fuck off" but i made that up so pay no notice
hahaha... that would've been cool. Actually, Roger Daltrey is the only person I've ever heard say "fuck" on the radio, without being censored. He says it a few times in "Who Are You" I believe. Just another way he is the coolest
I think the reason why Roger stutters on My Generation is a mock-up of all the mods who were taking speed and meth at the time. Those drugs would cause you to stutter, if too many were taken.
Wow... I was listening to my version of Heart Of Gold that I recorded a couple weeks ago on electric with my computer and I was balancing a guitar pick on my lower lip and had it there for maybe five minutes and didn't notice it... then I leaned over or something and I thought "OMG!!! Something is attacking and biting my lip" and it was the pick and it fell into my lap. That was freaky...
A quick one While He's away...especially live off Rock and Roll Circus where they upstage the Rolling Stones at heir own show... Man that ruled, pete loks like he is twelve...and keith it one of the coolest drummers ever...
ahhh man even mentioning the who's name makes my balls all tingly and i just fell like saying fuck in every sentence. that's what the who do to me, fuck. sorry about my coarse language. anyway it has to be won't get fooled again, it has to be dammit.
And if I knew what was best for me at the time, I would've said "Baba O'Reilly" is the best song ever.
HahaaaahaaaaHHAAHHAAAa!!!!!!!!!!!!! (times infinity) I am a proud supporter of the "Roger-esque" scream. Alrighty then...I'll go with: ~all of Tommy (esp. Sparks, Overture, Underture, The Acid Queen, The Hawker...err..yeah, and basically every other song on Tommy) ~all of Who's Next ~Success Story ~Long Live Rock ~Real Me Gee, I sure love the Who. I get kinda sad when ppl. walk into my dorm & they say "Hey, who are all of those ugly guys that you post on your walls?" ::sigh:: Anyway.... say, weren't they all 'hippie-haters'? I believe "Acid Queen" was meant to poke fun at psychedelic drugs.
