Never said it was, but he was talking to the Pharisees.

But the traditions we use are NOT empty, you might think they are but they aren't, and your taking what Christ said out of context.

The early Church fathers, saints, and apostoles all adhered to them before the bible was even compiled in 393 AD at the Synod of Hippo.

EASTER IS A TRADITION for Christ's sake.

Oh no, its not MY Sola Scriptura, you are the one who beleives it, do you even know what it is?

Actually, I think that the holy ghost (presence of God) living inside of you is the sole authority. Without it, scripture doesn't mean anything but ones own personal interpretation. When the apostles went out and spread the gospel after the death of Jesus Christ (remember, he told them to wait for Pentecost because they would be filled) they were preaching under the influence of the holy spirit.

So tell me what happens when there's the holy ghost inside you and you dont believe in the scriptures? And I havnt seen the answer yet to anything about the people before Jesus and the people that didnt recieve Jesus until way after. So they were just all damned to hell before Jesus came along? Im sorry, but that dosnt add up.

I agree with you that it is contradictory and false, however, MANY Churches adhere to those teachings, especially fundementalist denominations, such as Epiphany's Pentecostal church, whose members more or less beleives it.

I know in the Catholic Church we teach all those good people who were born prior to Christ are not damned to hell at all, but rather went to Purgatory, and when Christ died and rose from the dead, all the souls in Purgatory were allowed to enter heaven. We beleive all good people/Christians will go to Purgatory, for how long, no one knows, but it's not a bad thing: Everyone who enters Purgatory WILL go to heaven, it's a purification place, becasue very few people can die in a state without sin.

For the hundreth time, Epiphany's Pentecostal church believes that you must have the HOLY GHOST above anything else, including the scriptures. Being that there is much, MUCH more to God than the Bible.

Bible - Book of God's law written under the influence of the holy ghost (of course you must read it!)

Having the holy ghost - Direction, comfort, guidance, prophecy, tongues, knowledge, etc. (the difference between your own interpretation of the Bible, and what God is really saying)

epiphany - i'm gonna agree here with captain jozak - he makes good points- and i'm glad you realize there is more to your faith than the inspired word of god written by falible folks - but you alarm me when you say "of course you must read it." My question is, "WHY?"

That is explain in this verse:

    1 Corinthians 15
2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

the first Christians didn't have the bible for at least 200 years - so what about them - why must Christians read it? Many Christians can't even read - or hear others read it to them for that matter - What do you say to the person who is unable to receive the Bible in any form?

-Yea they did not have the Bible (new testament) for about 200 years after christ cus the people preaching about Jesus were to busy being killed....

Jesus always said, "It is written", where can we find what is written? In the Bible. God didn't just leave us here without any instruction. It's like a text book. A reference.

Before God came to earth in flesh form as Christ, there was an old covenant.
As far as the word being spread, that is why we have missionaries and evangelists. They are the ones who travel to remote areas of the world to spread the word of God.

As far as falible folks.... a mixture of authors contributed to the Bible including those whom the Lord looked upon with favor, such as Moses and Daniel, and some of his own chosen followers that walked the earth with him.

It would be impossible for just men to write the Bible.... there woluld have to be inspiration from a higher power
