    Apparently:
Her twin sisters, Alice and Jessica, told The Daily Star that Emily has been a victim of racist bullying herself.

They say Emily was bullied about her Puerto Rican/ American accent at school. They say she was also branded a "Yankee slag" by a group of school bullies.

"There's no way she would say anything racist to cause offence because she has been at the receiving end of it herself and knows how hurtful it is,"

I'd like to know what is going on in Charley's head to call herself the same thing.

    Nope they BOTH said it.

Emily: (referring to Charley dancing/pushing her hips forward) You pushing it out you ******.
Nicky: (shocked laughter) Em, I can't believe you said that.
    Charley: You are in trouble.
Emily: Don't make a big thing out of it then. I was joking.
Charley: I know you were... but that's some serious shit, sorry.
    Emily: Why?
Charley: Oh my god. I'm not even saying it.
Nicky: Just don't talk about it anymore.
    Emily: I was joking
Charley: Do you know how many viewers would watch that?
Nicky: Okay, don't make a big deal out of it.
Charley: Fancy you saying that. I can't believe you said that.
Emily: Somebody has already used that word in this house.
Charley: No way. (Pause) Yeah, me. I'm a ******.

    Nicky laughs.

Charley: I am one. Fancy you saying it. I know maybe you see it in a rap song. Maybe you and your friends sit there saying it.
Emily: I'm friendly with plenty of black people.
Nicky: And you call them niggers?
Emily: Yeah and they call me niggers. They call me wiggers as well.
    Nicky: I'm quite shocked.
    Charley: I'm fucking in shock.
Emily: It's not a big deal though is it?
Charley: Not for us it ain't. Fuck me.

It is okey for someone to call themselves the N word. But if you call someone the N word, it is indeed racist. Channel four clearly acted swiftly. It was b-e-c-a-u-s-e -e-m-i-l-y c-a-l-l-e-d - C-h-a-r-l-e-y the N word. Even though Charlie herself used the N word, she referred to herself rather than going reh teh teh with N word to another house mate.

The black people involved didn't get offended and didn't complain about it to officials either. She was removed due to Big Brother getting in serious trouble with Ofcom this year. That is exactly what all of this is about...the whole Shila Shetty thing. Big Brother now has to reset their standards and prove to the UK that racism isn't tolerated. They're just using Emily in order to set precedence.

I think Channel four acted rightly for once. They had learned from the Shilpa Shetty drama of Global proportions. Almost theatrical(About as dramatic as Eastenders)

But Racism isn't acceptable, full stop. Good to see that finally there is more awareness. Emily I believe is a racist, as she would not said it if she wasn't. One cannot be racist and then say, Oh, it was a joke, hahaha.

i've been raised my entire life to have a minor panic attack every time i hear the n word. i lived in a heavily black neighborhood. most of our closest family friends were black. so in those days, hearing ANYONE, including a black kid, using that word on another kid was cause for a neighborhood-wide hissy fit. its ironic that by taking over the word, like women took over the word bitch, that it's in much wider usage than i'd ever heard it before. but i guess people have to get past the wobbly phase of depowering the word.

I don't see what she's done wrong. She is what she is. It's ok for other blacks to call each other niggers yet it's not alright for a white person to call blacks niggers? Nah, I see nothing wrong in it.

That's because you're a racist. You wouldn't see anything wrong with it, obviously....

    I'm glad they are.
I think charley was stunned - hence her reaction.
I think it hit them both hard because they were friends.

Go check out how many times I have not censored myself - talking about it in this way - we might as well not bother censoring the word.
I'm not offended by seeing the word - just the way some people use it abuse it and think it aint offensive anymore simply by altering a letter or two.

I hope both girls think a bit more carefully before they use such words in future - emily know doubt will. Maybe they will STOP useing the word so flippantly -hopefully STOP useing the word..

As ziggy said ''it just aint cool''

I didn't actually see the show, but the report lead me to believe that there were no complaints made.

I've gone through my life having that word shouted at me. It wasn't until I went to school that it got really bad. Using such terms is offensive and unacceptable.

we were in navy housing. they didn't put up with that kinda crap. at least not overtly, i suppose. but sure as a hell a kid would say it and SOMEONE would give 'em a swat.

and i'm glad i'm not the only one who gets all fucked over hearing it. i swear, i hear it so much anymore i don't even know how to react. not in reference to black people at all, white guys using it to jokingly reference other white guys. i don't get it.

How very bizarre. I suppose it's the whole rap culture... people think it's acceptable to follow suit.
