btw .... anyone know how valid the original download of the video from Al Jazeera is? I copied it when it first came out as well as clips etc.. from other places and plan on getting it to a friend of a friend that speaks the language and is familiar with the culture. I'd like to get her translation as well as maybe any interpretation towards body language etc..
I just gotta say that be it Bin Laden who wrote those words or not, they are thought out, probing, and meaningful. It definatlly puts a new face on everything. You think about that and you wonder who was wrong.
Well man, it goes to show that Americans are scum. Such disgusting pieces of shit, And yes there are many good people who live in America, and that is why they need to get the hell out, so they don't get lumped in with the rest of the slime.
I think at best Bin laden is very good at manipulation, he has taken everything most of the people within this thread think and used that against his 'enemy' ... so well done guys and gals...
So I had a dream last night, and during one part of it, I remember like a group of people were listening to the radio, and it was saying "Well, the time is coming where either the governments are going to have to give the power over to the people for a utpoian one-world government, or else retain their power and try to handle what chaos breaks out". I remember there being a bunch of people together, like activists or whatnot, gathering together in meet-ups around the country. I think I was up north, in the dream, maybe even in Canada. maybe it's a sign of things to come?
If you "read" this "letter" in it's entirety then you might've caught it on an alternative website. In fact it is NOT a letter as many assert, but the text of a VIDEO, of which ONLY portions were shown on American television. And every media outlet I scanned mentioned exactly the same parts, with exactly the same spin, summary, commentary. Just like it had been approved by the very same American Censors who must approve everything the major media outlets say every day of the year. In fact you might not have noticed that on the weekends, & especially sunday breaking stories from the middle east don't even get any airplay. Why? Because the US censors are off duty and the stories won't be approved for release until Monday morning at the earliest. And that's how it is... Just like every report out of Iraq is likewise controlled & censored by the US military. How is America to know the truth other than the lies and half-truths spoon fed by its leaders?
Its not so much enlightening as it is seeing it from a diferent perspective. I mean its one thing to see a crazed madman as the enemy but when he starts talking about things that make sense it puts a different spin. A week after 9/11 there were t-shirts with his face and a crosshair. A week after the attacks. We had barely even confirmed his involvment before people capitalized on it. The shirts and the toliet paper and such are amusing but think what that entails. People are getting rich on this war stricly through MARKETING. Its so easy to think of your enemy as a savage but when they make you see that it really isn't the case then you have to stop looking at it all so concretlly. Black. White. And a shitload of greys.
Well, a shitload of stupid fucking Americans bought into the bullshit. Thus, their ignorance takes away their innocence, as well.
I find it interesting the way people want to have it both ways with this text - wanting to say it shows that OBL is not just a crazy terrorist, that Bush is the real warmonger, that his struggle is more just - but at the same time trying to dance around the fact that he is confessing to acts of mass murder of innocents - so have to agree with what he is saying without acknowledging he actually exists or that he isn't controlled by the CIA, because we want to have it both ways. Lets keep in mind this was written by someone who used their inherited millions to move to a foreign country and wage war, becoming an ally to the Taliban, probably one of the most oppressive regimes ever seen, imposing an extremist islamic fundamentalist code on everyone in the country, essentially enslaving women and destroying historical treasures because they offended Allah? What the fuck was "bubbling in his soul" back then? Yet he goes on video to tell us about his rejection of tyranny and we are supposed to take him seriously? And apparently people do?
Supposedly Osama hasn't used any of his own money. There are so many who support his cause it's not necessary. I've also heard a rumor that he hasn't got much left anyway. My guess is he has it in a blind trust, just like Cheney has for his Halliburton payoffs. I think the reason most Americans can't accept Bin Laden's reasons is that he DIDN'T do it for money! That is the only motivation Americans can accept as legitimate. Just like all those young Americans who signed up for their extended Iraq vacations. They did it for money! Like THAT's a valid reason to kill innocent people!
American's (in general) are too self-righteous to listen to these people's message anyways. It kinda makes you wonder if we are really getting what we deserve. Messages like this one from Bin Laden and others like him are not new, just ignored. How many of these were ignored before we were attacked? We already know that we were given fair warning of the attacks, yet we foolishly ignored them putting the innocent of this country at risk. The US has gotten too big for it's britches, and we are reaping what we have sown. Our greed is going to be our downfall in the end, and we don't need people like Osama to tell us that, or at least we shouldn't. Diplomacy is going to be important for our future. We are rubbing shoulders with the world now more than ever. Culture clashes are going to happen, but that doesn't mean that one culture is bad or wrong, just different. If we want a peaceful world we need to accept our diversity and learn to live with it, not send troops to march around the globe and take out anyone who opposes our agenda... Now, attacking the group that attacked us, is a different story. But we aren't really doing that here, are we? We left the attack against Osama and jumped over to Iraq. I never thought I would see the day when my own country was waging an offensive war against another country. As a child I thought this was a wonderful country, that we were the good guys of the world. That's what most of us are raised to think. But what does history tell us? The stealing of land and genocide of an entire native population, throwing our boys needlessly into the grinder in Vietnam out of arrogance and pride, keeping prisions in cuba just outside the reach of international law, torturing individuals, murdering individuals, god I could go on and on. We call them terrorists, but what are we? We aren't so different...in some ways worse! Well that's my thought's on the transcript. I don't support any asshole's actions like Osama's, and certainly won't let myself be manipulated by such a radical regardless if I agree with much of his statement. But for the same reasons I don't support the US in this war.
