no dont scold uyourself use a cup or mug dipping just the end in (up to 1/2 way in) nowhere near the scalp and definately dont drip on yourself u gotta do it carefully and this is mostly just to be sure wether its dust//wax..mold..or a combo wax will luiquify at 140 f+ and float to the surfece (the water should be a bit above 140 and it must remain above 140 to heat the wax to above 140 wich may take a few minutes so a temp of 170 or so will do the trick best and at least 1 minure soaking
There's something I've wondered about melting the wax that may be in dreads still... By making it completely liquid again, wouldn't that make it more likely that it could get leached back up the dread again, or spread out more etc, even if some of it is also coming out? Could it in some ways be better to let it just come out naturally bit by bit with each wash, without encouraging it to move around the dread too much and possibly up into new unwaxed growth? Do you know what I mean?
When I used bronner's it leaves behind a sticky, soap scummy kind of residue. Maybe that's what it is and the residue is holding dirt and lint. If it doesn't just go away, try switching to a different shampoo.
SE I'm not going to stick my dreads in 150 degree water!! Donkey it could be the shampoo.. I wash with DHHQ when I don't fancy the scummy feel of the DrB sometimes, so I could alternate, it might reduce it? I dunno.. I guess I'll just leave it to its own thing Might even pass out of the dread, like a dread poop
Lol boil your hair in water trust me i did it yesterday and my hair feels alot better today knowing how much shit came out of them. Even if you used just a little bit of wax chances are you have a little build up. The pictures you showed i never seen that in my hair but im sure if you just leave a pot boiling with water and dip the tips in the pot while boiling for 2 seconds pull the dread into the sink and squeeze wearing rubber gloves. Milky waxy shit will come out and hopefully thats all that black build up is its worth a try and virtually impossible to burn urself i was even squeezing my dreads without gloves (that burned a bit) but not too bad
Well if you do boil (and like I said, it made no difference to the stuff I have which looks similar to yours), since the ends of your dreads are not so very far from your face, mind you don't scald yourself on the steam. I picked apart quite a few of the black bits at the tips of mine, with a pin and some tweezers. It was quite tricky coz it all seemed so tightly stuck together with the hairs, even though it wasn't physically sticky. As I pulled the lumps apart they all just turned out to be little pieces of grey and pink fluff, not black at all once they weren't so densely together. So yeh....and like I said, me & the dreads are still here lol
A few times per month, i go to a local hot springs, and dunk myself in its hot (110+) degree healing mineral waters... When I finally haul my stoned ass out of the hot water, I give my dreads a few squezzes. The water is somtimes light brown, shades of grey...etc The point being that event though I thought I was keeping them super clean, hot water can get alot of "stuff" out indeed..
Hehe xD Ohh blimey hot springs... Wish I hadd some of those and yea I guess.. Ok I give in xD I'll give it gooo.... I like DHHQ xD I'd be on their defence xD Amy, yea thats what i found! They a=weren't really black when you untangled em xD Hehe pink fluff Now I'm jealous of your fluff
