BLM with regards to the attack on the gay club in florda. Conservative right/white supremacy. I was unaware til reading through their website that conservative right meant white supremacy or was hate filled. Where ever you read conservative, white supremacy follows with regards to conservatives right wing to blame. Solution is what should be looked for not pointing the fingers at the powers that be,

Wtf? Solution comes through communication and a solution by all people... apparently taking away guns is a problem? domination by white progressives? Would is be ok if it were black progressives that tries to define or come to a solution?

I find this kind of thing through out the BLM website.

One place they say 2.8 million black in prison, another place it says 1 million. Numbers change, contradicting statements. Conservative right and White supremacy is to blame for that too. . Another point they say half their population is in jail.

Not my job to proof read them or fact check but I have done some and see so many contradiction on their page and lies that it turned me off.

Reminded me of Manchurian candidate... there are 257 card carrying members of the communist party. There are 52 card carrying members of the communist party.

 

Here is my take on the police and BLM.

Just to the south of me is Oakland and just to the north of me is Richmond. Consistently over the last 30 years they have been on the list of top 10 most dangerous cities in America.

Oakland has been having budget problems and laying off police for years. I view the cops the same way I view the garbage man. Both have crappy jobs cleaning up other peoples messes that I don't want. But when the trash is piling up the answer isn't to lay off garbage men.

That said there is an immense problem with police corruption in Oakland. As a matter of fact the federal government has been brought in to deal with the problem. A few months ago they went through 7 police chiefs in 14 days. Also recently a group of police were busted in a child sex trafficking ring. The issue of police brutality has gotten to the point where they are talking about making Oakland cops wear body cameras.

This is a big part of why Black Lives Matter exists. To work with the community to address and correct these issues.

This is also the reason the Black Panthers started back in the day. Since the police weren't doing their jobs in the black community and the powers that be didn't give a fuck about the issues not only of race but inequities in education, housing and food.

Interesting fact. Back in the mid 70's the disabled rights movement held the longest and most effective sit in for disabled rights in history. Guess who else was there bringing food, battery chargers for wheel chairs, running errands, and bringing people their medication. The Black Panthers.

In their day the Panthers were just as demonised as BLM is today. And it seems Morfgirl that all you are doing is regurgitating Fox News propaganda without having a true understanding of the situation. Their is a word for that and it has become very ugly to the point insult. The word is ignorance.

The good news is that in the information age ignorance is easily cured with a simple web search and critical thinking. Unfortunately you even have to ask google the right question. For example since it is based on most hits they ran into a snag where if you asked if the Holocaust really happened the first thing to pop up was a white supremacist web site.

I love how this whole thread is trying to defame BLM. Isn't their cause anti-brutality and anti-hate? I'm not affiliated with BLM but I think that seems like a good cause.

Regarding gun control. I grew up in Maine pretty much your downstairs neighbor. Since I grew up in the country so I view guns as tools. Usually to keep predators away from the livestock.

But I believe in responsible gun laws. Maine has in my opinion the scariest. In Maine anyone can carry a concealed weapon. No special permit. No background check. No training.

True story.I went back last year and was at a family function. I have a cousin who is mildly mentally retarded and has anger issues. While at this family function he went to his truck and pulled out his Glock 9mm to show off and brag that he could have it now.

Kind of scary.

Nope I speak for myself, as do you, My thoughts, my feelings, my views, my home... apparently is silly to you. What being human means to me and it does not mean segregated groups. Look at what happened in residential school, lok at history.. making anyone stand at the back is not acceptable

I do stand by the fact that BLM has a responsibility to advocate for anyone who is a victim ... and not base it on a skin colour... if they want to unite people, do not segregate. Why support an org that would not stand beside me strictly because I am not of the right skin colour. Maybe set an example for any segregated group who only advocates based on skin colour and excludes white people. I do think in painting white people, right wing people as white supremacist in the same umbrella is creating a hatred or fear in people which will motivate young people to fear anyone who voted trump, or is conservative. This is dangerous.

 

Just to interject over the fearing people who voted for trump comment.....I only fear some that are fanatical about it...and with the others it is more conflict of interests......one were there is no meeting of the minds on much of anything, else, either..

There are fanatics in every political group. I have voted for every party under the sun. None followed through on promises for the most part. We all vote and hope for the best. We all end up disappointed. Didn't Obama promise to bring the troops home? They all provide lip service simply for votes and then do what they want. Every one of them.

My point is that I know lots of people I tolerate...we ignore discussing important things, usually... as feelings get hurt and arguments can erupt...When not seeing eye to eye on major issues...it is a bad foot to even start out on. I am not looking for anymore. I need to find people I see eye to eye with. Life is too short, really....to waste time on superficial relationships.

The thing is Morphgirl as Drumminma and I have pointed out from personal experience with Black Lives Matter in the real world is that they don't exclude. You have gotten misinformation and are using it to try and correct people with actual experience.

I cannot speak for Canada any more than you can speak for the US. I can speak for Black Lives Matter and what they represent because I have lived and worked in communities effected by the issues they are addressing. I'm getting my information first hand in conjunction with what I'm reading online.

There is nothing in Black Lives Matter rhetoric that advocates violence toward white people directly. They are more concerned with fighting systematic racism as opposed to individual racism.

If the perpetrators made the victim scream "Fuck da Police!" while they were doing it would you blame Dr Dre and Ice Cube?

These thugs were brainlessly parroting shut that they had heard and were doing profoundly evil shit to someone who is weaker than they are. If they were going all Reservoir Dogs on a cop in that video then I could see blaming it on BLM. But that isn't what happened.

I just did something that apparently no one on here thought to do. I googled "who started #BLMkidnapping?"

The answer was Paul Joseph Watson who is an editor at large for Alex Jones infowars website.

Alex Jones is in my opinion a bullshit snake oil salesman dealing in bullshit conspiracy theories including the Sandy Hook Truther movement and propagating the Pizzagate conspiracy among other things.
