I'm a top. He's bottom. I figure since you like him so much, you might want a taste of his sweet tush.
Yes, there is no overpopulation problem. However, this is what the ruling elite would like you to believe so they can convince people that they're nothing more than parasites and thus a strain on mother earth. This way they can justify higher taxation and more control over the dumbed-down masses. Overpopulation is a myth.
Tell that to people who have 20 kids when they can only support 1. Theoretically, we have the resources to support the population, but you cannot simply stand up and change the resource distribution, that's way too idealistic. Therefore, overpopulation exists. People reproduce beyond the amount of resources directly available to them.
There is an overpopulation problem. But we could solve the problem. I think basicaly many regions of this planet live beyond their means or don't have means to live. There are too many people in particular regions that can't support themselves. This is not an "elite" problem, this is a distribution problem. Try feeding 3 million people with the distribution and/or capability of feeding 300,000. Can't be done. Most of the people that live in over-populated regions are not taxed, Rat. they live hand to mouth and have no income at all. There is no work, no prosperity...nothing to sustain them...no taxes to give.
Wait, elitism, what's so wrong about it? I checked a dictionary and first definition is "practice of or belief in rule by an elite." and then "consciousness of or pride in belonging to a select or favored group." Is that not already in place?
I don't think anybody would argue that an "elite" is not in place in society. I imagine it depends on how that "elite" operate. It does seem a catch-all term to mean...well, anything you like, to a degree. I think you have to know who the "elite" are...or atleast what the common accpeted notion is. Would'nt a "favoured group" have opportunity over those that were not part of the "elite"? I see the "elite" as operating along side the "rest of us" not above us.
What's more idealistic is to expect human growth to decrease. It's not going to happen, I don't care how much your little teen angst prays for it.
I don't expect it to happen and don't pretend like I have the answers. Humanity can destroy itself for all I care. I'll be content watching the fireworks.
Are you this depressing in real life? Do you ever intend to procreate? Do you not want something to be left of the world for your children? Your grandchildren, etc? I do. When I think of what is happening to the world, I get a serious sense of protectiveness for the family I have yet to have. Sometimes I think I shouldn't... because why bring another life into this world just to have it suffer? Answer: Because if it was my choice to leave this world or stay, I would choose to stay, despite its flaws. I'd still want my kids to experience the joys this planet has left. I think it's worth it. But I still fear for them.
