yo i love using soda instead of water. i have used orange soda, mountain dew, coke, dr. pepper, everything. it's a bitch to clean though---sticky as hell. also, if you're drunk enough beer's not bad. it's pretty fucking nauseating if you aren't though.
water is used in a bong because THC has a very low solubility in water. alcohol and other acids absorb THC. and please don't drink bong water.
what does it matter if the bong is clean BEFORE the session, it will be NASTY afterwards! and just so you know, smoking isn't quite 100% healty either.
ethanol, drinking alcohol, has no pH and as such is not capable of being an acid. and THC is not specifically soluble in acids. there isnt nearly enough alcohol in beer or wine to ignite. using liquor would be dangerous, though. as far as i know, the smoke may lose some THC to the alcohol, but i haven't got any real evidence for or against it, not even anecdotal evidence. its a distinct possibility. but water works just fine and doesnt mess your bong up. everyone tries to the the water as cool as possible, but i find that really warm, steamy water is better as the steam is soothing to the throat making it easier to take big hits.
holy crap! my one friend did this once (put hot water in the bong) and it was kind of neat i guess, but i prefer icy cold. i've never heard of anyone else doing that but hey, i guess everything will get tried at least once.
yeah, and i've talked to one or two people on here who also prefer hot water, though they're few and far between. i dont know how many people have even tried it, but i personally find it much better than cold water, though if theres enough of it, really, really cold water filled with ice cubes is good sometimes. but the thing is "common knowledge" tells us that the water is to cool the smoke in addition to filtering it a bit. but in -my- experience i find that smoke is hot and no matter what, if you've got smoke in your lungs its going to be hot. if you cool it enough it condenses and forms excess tar and resin in the walls of the bong. but the smoke is still hot. i've found since its gonna be hot anyway, it works better to embrace the heat and use hot water to filter the smoke. in addition to filtering it, it adds steam and humidity instead of trying to cool the smoke. the steam is soothing to the lungs and throat, and helps to open up the air passages (like with a vicks vaporizer enhancing humidity when you're sick) i find it much more comfortable than ice water. cold water does make a difference over room temperature, but its still like inhaling daggers sometimes when you take a big hit. with hot water, i notice the pain of the smoke less.
do you live in a dorm? why's it hard to come by the opportunity to smoke a bong? is it cause you dont currently have weed? no bueno. either way, yeah, you ought to try it. i like it, personally. your mileage may vary
no im in an apartment (check out convo thread for pics). But my roommates really wont let me smoke inside and im not gonna bring my bong outside to smoke. I already think its suspicous enough that i go out behind the garages going outside with a back pack or holding a hoodie with it in it. I also dont have weed currently and wont for a while since i decieded to buy two rolls instead since i havent done it in such a long time. Also my friend had some and said they were pretty good so i think i should take the chance and get them. Maybe i should get a third and try and trade it for some bud or something but i think i rather eat than get high. Also i dont like to have to make the drive from columbus to newark with weed in my car cause if i get caught with it i get kicked out of school. And i dont think i can get it delievered to me.
its not too far, and if you're discrete and sober when you drive it shouldnt be an issue. seriously, morse road is the BEST way to go. and its beautiful this time of year! going east when you take morse road, you'll go almost the whole way, then morse curves left and ends up intersecting 161, 16, or whatever its called at that stretch of the road, and you just hop onto it going right. dress decently, be sober, keep it in your trunk or somewhere discrete, and enjoy the drive in the country. there are very few things along the way on morse, and i've only once or twice seen a cop around there. its pretty safe, and an excellent place to take a nice, leisurely drive in the country for a bit, listen to some good music, roll down the windows and enjoy some fresh air. i've made the trip many times and once or twice it did become nervewracking with police following me when i had a substantial amount of weed in the car, but that was when i got back to gahanna. i've made the drive many times. a good place to go if you want to smoke at night is the bike path near the OSU newark campus. walk around and smoke a bowl. theres a crazy little statue of a boy on a bicycle, a tunnel tiled with tiles with little kids' paintings on them, all sorts of odd shit. its a fun time, i recommend it. one of my best friends used to live almost across the street from the campus....that trails fun at night, especially with a few drunk friends, trust me enjoy smoking outdoors at night in a cool place as long as its warm enough to do so! newark as a whole may suck, but there are some pretty neat parts.
ya i found a bike path fairly close to my apartment right off of cherry valley if you know where that is but i think its closed at night so i couldnt have my car parked there. But i think there might be some sort of path behind the apartment by the railroad tracks cause i keep seeing some jogger guy around there and im pretty sure hes coming from back there.
ah, its been so long since i've been out there i dont remember the roads well. since i graduated in 04 i've alternately spent lots of time in gahanna, delivering newspapers or pizzas in westerville, on the OSU campus, on OSU newark campus and newark in general, in the 161-cleveland area, the polaris area....i forget places i dont currently drive in. right now my best understanding of the geography is of the polaris and northwest westerville area. but if i recall correctly, my buddy used to live off a streat called london dale or something like that? i dunno...i remember it was near the first or second newark exit, before the main one
hmm not really sure where that is, i havent done to much driving up here. Basically i know how to get to school and to get the store.
