I thought it was wicked funny, but mean jokes but I think we all can laugh at our weak points! I'm pretty sure he got arrested 118 or 119 times!
    Peace

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
Produced by Sacha Cohen, directed by Larry Charles. Starring Sacha Cohen, Ken Davitian, Luenell.
    Oscar nominations (2007):
    Sacha Baron Cohen (screenplay/story)
    Anthony Hines (screenplay/story)
    Peter Baynham (screenplay/story)
    Dan Mazer (screenplay)
    Todd Phillips (story)
Ascap awards (2007), won Top Box Office Film Award.
Golden Globe Awards, USA (2007), won Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture -- Sacha Cohen.

Not so liked by government and people of Kazahkstan: see link http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6276973,
by South Carolina fraternity students who sued, by a driving instructor who sued, by Romanian villagers and German gypsies who sued. Link is http://search.hollywood.com/movies/Borat%20Lawsuit
These suits have been unsuccessful in the U.S. as of May 2010.

Cohen acts the buffoon but implies Kazahkstan is a nation of fools, so citizens there might well be offended. He also brings on-screen some of the many failings of American society: national chauvinism (in the rodeo scene), racism (in the southern etiquette scene), sexism (in the fraternity boys scene). With a name like Cohen, he has fun playing an extremely stupid, bigoted and superstitious anti-Semite. He also plays a very stupid male sexist and so pokes fun at them, and a very stupid and bigoted Kazahkstani. Since I know next to nothing about Kazahkstan, I can't say whether his jibes at that country are justified, but I doubt it.

So, this is a very funny movie with gross humour, but not everyone will laugh.

borat like so many other products out of hollywood desensitises people to taboo topics. and passes it off in the form of humor, i fail to see whats so funny about bringing a turd to a dinner table. hollywood probably has freud smiling in his grave right now

it's because the character of borat is a pedophile. that's why on an mtv awards thing he said chidlren are the future, then turned around to say he wanted to sex them up after they stripped their clothes off. then blurted out "tight like a seven year old" it's just too bad slightly stoopid never comes around anymore to reply to this

    actor: sasha baron cohen

I haven't seen this movie in awhile but I think this was easily one of the top 5 funniest movies of the past decade. I had known borat's character prior to the movie from the Ali g show and was a bit worried how he was going to translates his hilarious, often offensive unscripted skits into a movie. He exceeded beyond my expectation by including a plot of traveling from his homeland (kazakstan) to the u.s. In search of a wife. This back story and plot worked perfectly and gave him the ability to set up his interviews. Some of the interviews included: how to drive, learn humor, proper etiquette, and many other aspects of American life presented in a satirical manner. The comedy mainly relies on the stereotypes, assumptions and luxuries taken for granted in u.s. Culture and exposes some of the extreme prejudices those in 3rd world countries may hold. (jews as cockroaches)
Its a movie certainly not for everyone, but its pretty hard to dismiss its orginality and ability to successfully mix toilet humor with political satire. A must see for Ali g fans and those who can stand some raunchy humor.
