It depends on the group and what activities they do whether its fun or not... I was in the scouts when a kid and some teen years, my troop was great, we did lots of stuff, camping, cave exploring, leather working, survival stuff, spent a whole month at a camp in the Shenendoa Valley in Virginia... they had a 30 foot rope swing into the lake, canoe trips, studying nature, rope tying and monkey bridges, fishing, and lots more. Not to mention sneaking over to the girl scouts area for some unofficial merit badges...lol.
I have nothing but great memories from my days as a boy scout and I agree with Spirt Wynd that there was nothing better than sneaking over to the girl scouts camp too! The problem was they always seemed to be on the other side of a river, so as a result I am a great swimmer and even better in a canoe!
In my deviant teen years, I sort of helped myself to a canoe and stashed it well away where I can cross the lake at night. I also found some hippies camping who helped me smuggle in some "extra supplies" to further enlighten my scouting experience, and make me more popular in the forbidden zone across the lake. Ah, youth is definately wasted on the young...
had some pretty psychedelic times at a scout camp here in indiana nice mellow times on a beach truly fun love the whole camping part, all in all the best part about the experience
