I know you weren't talking to me...I don't see what that has to do with anything. My post was sort of a suggestion to you to tackle the issue using sources and facts, instead of hollow statements.
Those are allegations, not facts. I can make lots of allegations, but that doesn't make them true. Peace and love
Subject: Verified with SNOPES -- this is unnerving IN ORLANDO LAST WEEK, AT A CITGO STATION REGULAR GAS WAS PRICED AT $2.82 PER GALLON, NO CUSTOMERS. HOWEVER ACROSS THE STREET WHERE FUEL WAS SELLING FOR $2.85 PER GALLON, ALL PUMPS THERE HAD CARS WAITING TO FUEL. Have you noticed how the Citgo signs have disappeared in the past 7-8 months? Very clever move by Chavez. But guess what? CITGO IS CHANGING ITS NAME... this is serious Americans... make sure you read. ' -------- NEWS FLASH -------' Chavez is NOW getting a Russian Weapons Factory built by Putin. The RUSSIANS are building an AK-47 Kalashnikov Assault Rifle factory in Venezuela , to give armament support to Communist Rebel groups throughout the Americas . Chavez NOW has IRANIANS operating his oil refineries in Venezuela for him. It is likely only a matter of time, if not already, before Chavez has Iranian built LONG RANGE missiles, with a variety of warhead types aimed at: Guess Who? So, CITGO is NOW in the process of Changing Its name to PETRO EXPRESS due to the loss of gasoline sales in the USA due to the recent publicity of ownership by Chavez of Venezuela. Every dollar you spend with CITGO or PETRO EXPRESS gasoline will be used against you, your basic human rights, and your freedoms. He will start wars here in the Americas that will probably be the death of millions. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT because Chavez is starting to feel the loss of revenue from his holdings. HE OWNS CITGO. This is a very important move that everyone should be aware of. ANNOUNCED JUST RECENTLY, CITGO, BEING AWARE THAT SALES ARE DOWN DUE TO U.S. CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO BUY FROM 'CITGO-CHAVEZ', HAVE STARTED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SOME OF THEIR STORES TO: 'PETRO EXPRESS' DO NOT BUY FROM 'PETRO EXPRESS' EITHER!!! 'PETRO EXPRESS' IS ALSO 100% OWNED BY 'CHAVEZ.' BOYCOTT -------- 'CITGO' AND 'PETRO EXPRESS' --------- BOYCOTT
I don't know what you're talking about. Gasoline prices in Maryland have fallen fifteen cents in the last 10 days. At a time of year when gas prices go UP! So none of this makes any sense. BTW I buy gas from Citgo or BP exclusively. I'm certainly not giving any money to Exxon/Mobil or Texaco. Edit: I should qualify that; my employer buys his fuel at Citgo and BP, since I do not and will not own an automobile. I drive one which he provides. He's so conservative that his lips are permanently affixed to Bush's puckerspot yet he still patronizes Citgo. Hmmm... Fuel prices down, conservatives buying from Venezuela... Still not making sense. Must be that crazy media misinformation again.
I'm gonna buy my gas wherever it's cheapest. I ain't so spoiled that I'd buy the more expensive gas from some big corporation that don't give a rats ass about how much money I have, just because somebody doesn't like the guy who is selling the cheapest gas... Better to just not use much... I am CERTAIN that if the US would stop messing with Chavez that he would not feel the need to defend himself so heavily. Seems like the kind of guy who would get along with anyone who wanted to get along with him to me.
I could be wrong, but I believe Chavez nationalized all petroleum operations to include Citgo. So he doesn't really own Citgo or Petroleum Express, the Venezuelan people do.
I think you're right, Zoomie, Chavez is setting the dangerous precedent of sharing the wealth of the oil his country produces with the people instead of lining the pockets of the elite, and that goes against "democracy" as we know it.
Which is precisely why so many are up in arms about it. If the Prince of Lichtenstein (or whatever that tiny country has) were to say something bad about America or Americans no one would care. But there is oil and Socialism blending in the next continent south so lions and tigers and bears, OH MY! You're correct, M-Y, the only people doing the complaining are the former ruling elite and the former executives of the Venezuelan oil cartel. They were stripped of their status in favor of the common man and they're crying about it to Fox News. Fuck 'em. I'm more concerned about the fallout of the current administration declaring war on the Muslim world to take control of THEIR oil (and don't kid yourself, if there were any other valid reason, Haliburton wouldn't have relocated to Dubai). Eighty million American-hating Muslims... Hugo Chaves is friggin' Mother Theresa by comparison. PS- It's Friday, I received 34 gallons of Citgo gas today for 8 cents LESS per gallon than was paid last week, and 17 cents less than was paid for it in May of this year. Still no crisis there, Chicken Little.
I guess you must have missed the news headlines that have been coming through for the last few weeks: "Chavez threatens to DOUBLE crude oil prices". The sky's not falling...yet. And as far as your theory goes? That the only reason we have a problem with his brutal ways is b/c he's the leader of a "truly democratic country who's good to it's people"? That is absurd. Maybe that's how the up-tops of our government might feel...but not me. I'm not scared of the big bad socialist ghost. I see a situation, and I form an opinion on it. I see government policy of censoring media, and charging protesters with TREASON and I call that tyranny. It has nothing to do with the fact that they're socialist...although I generally feel that socialist/communist countries tend to commit the most human rights violations on their citizens.
boycott shell before you boycott citgo (though i really think there's no need to worry about chavez or venezuela)-those bastards drilled in some third world country, can't remember exactly which one, and when they were done, in order to save a very measly, trivial amount of money, dumped it in a river instead of pumping it back underground.. this river just so happened to be the only source of water for miles around for hundreds of people. they were forced to continue drinking, bathing in, and cooking with the toxic sludge. so now, besides the effect the spent oil had on the wildlife living in and around the river, these people have horrible, grotesque tumors. plus, shell's done many other absolutely dispicable things, such as the way they treat the ogoni people of nigeria. I NEVER go to shell, unless it's a complete emergency, and then, i feel horrible for having done so. check it out: http://www.essentialaction.org/shell/issues.html#Why boycott http://www.independentngonline.com/?c=140&a=6521 http://www.waado.org/environment/OilSpills/NigerDelta/Amusia_Rivers.html http://www.legalaffairs.org/printerfriendly.msp?id=385
That is true. I think people are just jumping on the bandwagon here with the whole CHAVEZ thing. I love USA but I dont like the direction that our country is headed, and ANYTHING that Bush says should not be trusted as he has demonstrated time and time again. I know he is just a puppet but I think we should be researching on our own to come up with a no biased view on what is really happening in the world. Dont they have alot of oil there? Any coincidence we dont like them. We will probably end up taking him out and installing or controlling whoever takes his place to get our hands on the oil.
I'll say it again...I think you guys are being willfully dense on this issue. Hypocritical, even. Put it this way. If there was an anti-Bush rally (and there are plenty of those) going on in the streets, and Bush himself sent out his own PERSONAL HENCHMEN, and GUNNED DOWN 14 PEOPLE IN COLD BLOOD to stop the rally, wouldn't you all agree that that would make bush a horrible, terrible bastard of a man that doesn't even deserve to live? You would, right? No doubt about it. Well, Hugo Chavez did that very thing. Yes, he did it...and it's not a lie, or distorted truth. It's a FACT. That's just the tip of the Hugo Chavez iceberg, but that ALONE should be enough for you all to condemn the man. Yet, you PRAISE him!?! HYPOCRITES
I agree it's disturbing, though we can't be sure of the circumstances unless we were actually there to bear witness, the media can spin it any way they like. But, for the sake of argument, compare that with the thousands of American lives, and the tens of thousands of Iraqi lives lost in our oil men's war of lies.
You don't know that. You don't know it at all. I strongly doubt that Chavez pulled the triggers or ordered that they be pulled. In fact I'd bet that someone in that chain of command is facing either a firing squad or the rest of his life in a 6x6x6 box without windows as he deserves. But you didn't even cite a source. The news story I read said that they were fisherman having a picnic and a security patrol mistook them for insurgent guerillas. And it took place 360 miles from Caracas, so how is that an anti-government protest??? How would Chavez even know about it? A tragedy, true, and heads will roll for it but it sounds like a case of mistaken identity, AN ACCIDENT. Perhaps you should check your sources. Perhaps you should get your news from someplace OTHER than Fair.org or whatever right wing Pro-US website you read. Perhaps you should turn all that aggression into constructive energy. Build a house for a poor family, work for freedom in Tibet or peace in Darfur. I have many more important things to consider than elitist malcontents 10,000 miles away. Like the impending collapse of the US economy and how many people who only have callouses on their ass cheeks are going to show up and expect to be fed. And I'll still gladly share what I have. Because it's NOT the Amerikan way to feed and shelter the hungry. It's my way. Please notice that I didn't insult you as you did some of us. Peace.
Zoomie Since you seem to have a bad memory, I'll just quote an earlier post of mine. Stop ASS-UMING that I get my news from pro-U.S. websites. Fair.org? Never heard of it. I've actively listened to every talk-radio show from Rush Limbaugh, all the way to Al Franken and Randy Rhodes on Air America liberal radio. I've also attended 9/11 truth meetings. So if you're trying to classify me as a closed-minded ass, you fail. Oh and the source that I used for this post was the International Human Rights Watch Organization. Or is that biased too? Oooohh, NOW I remember why you completely ignored this post the first time, Zoomie. It was becuse I said I thank God I don't live in a government-controlled-media country like Venezuela. One mention of God, and you INSTANTLY use it as an excuse to ignore every other thing I took the time to say. Talk about being closed minded and biased...
You're absolutely correct. So. In YOUR previous post you placed person blame on Chavez for something that occurred ELEVEN YEARS before he became president. That was even 4 years before he attempted to overthrow the oppressive regime of Carlos Andres Perez, who was president when that "massacre" happened. My memory is fine. Stop making shit up.
Ok I suppose I was wrong about the 14 people, BUT there have been other more recent shootings that happened to people during protests. So I was wrong about the number, but not about the act itself. Also if you'll check the same website, there are accounts of opposition party members being abducted, questioned and tortured. Not to mention the civil rights lawyer who was charged with TREASON. Sure I can't be certain about every thing that happens in a country I've never been to. But where there's smoke, there's fire. Why do you suppose that this organization has so many worrysome headlines in regards to Venezuela, but so few for the U.S. in comparison?? You can't ignore ALL of those headlines in my previous post.
Oh if you still don't believe me, just google "protester shot in venezuela" and see pages and pages and PAGES of results. I can't remember the last time that happened here...has it ever?
