I agree. We have lowered ourselves to 13-year-old internet lingo standards, rather than upholding the golden tradition of hilarity and excellence that the Random Thoughts section used to stand for.
it's basically an indication of my sense of humor. i very rarely use any of these phrases and do think that it's kind of obnoxious how they appear over and over everywhere on here now. but you created a thread complaining about the overuse of one of relayer's trademark phrases, so i find it funny to spam the thread with other relayer trademark phrases. i may be alone in this one, but oh well.
Exactly, no one tries anymore...It is all done with acronyms or pictures with a single word posted on it... No creativity, no individualism, all the same redundancy...
Yeah, it would be funny if there was some difference in the phrases being used in this thread versus them being used in other threads. But it's really become so common that even this chance at irony sort of passes me by. It all just sort of blends together, I didn't even notice the irony of it until you pointed it out. It's too bad relayer's trademark phrases couldn't have retained their status as relayer's trademark phrases.
If you're going to get rid of "brah", you might as well continue the trend and discard all words that originated as subconscious desires to produce an appearance of detachment where in actuality there is unwillingness to experience an underlying vulnerability. 'Dude' and 'man' come to mind. I call them poser words, but I can be a bit harsh at times. Of course, an even more effective way to circumvent words like these than simply abstaining from their use is to drop the fabricated social personas from which they originated entirely. Take away the facade and 95% of the time the impulse to use the words subsides as well. Travis
as far as i know these have nothing to do with relayer, but i would also love to see the abolishment of nao, secks, and moar.
In addition, I think for a lot of people, saying 'dude' and 'man' is almost like a more modern form of studdering. I've noticed some people who become so used to saying them that they simply insert their word (whatever it may be) into the middle of their sentence when they can't think of a word to use and struggle to think of one. A version of "um" and "uh" I suppose. That's just what happened to me.
Oh definitely, and I'm going to go ahead and add "teh" to the list. I don't even know how to say that one.
oh yeah, agreed. although i'll admit that one is one of the easiest typos to make so it's understandable on occasion, as long as it's not intentional.
