Let me put it to you this way then. You smoking indoors hurts others, heroin addicts shooting up at work could potentially hurt others/themselves, they could nod off, break shit, etc.

This only real effect of this woman's "condition" is that she's wasting company time. However if her boss knows this and is okay with it, I don't see a problem, nor do I see it as "bad" as the other examples you gave.

I'm willing to be proven wrong though. I'm not arguing on her behalf because I think it's right, I just don't see it as being as bad as those other examples.

Off-topic, but I once remember watching this Russian special that was done on LSD, and they totally misinterpreted a Timothy Leary interview and made it sound like he died by having his head cut off and preserved, instead of dying from cancer and being cremated. They made it sound like he went crazy from acid and was suicidal with the head thing. Ridiculous!

I think this is grossly unfair to the employer. This woman should be put on some sort of disability leave until she can get her problem until control. Its not fair to expect an employer to pay someone to sit around and masturbate all day.

If she were schitzophrenic instead and her meds couldn't control it enough, she would be on disability. She wouldn't be allowed to come to work if she had delusions of grandeur or paranoia against the other employees or walked around talking to herself all day.

Likewise, if the only work a physically disabled person could find was construction work, he wouldn't be allowed to go to work every day and sit there, watching the other employees work their asses off. He would be on disability.

I don't really know how disability laws in Brazil work, but if they're progressive enough to allow someone to masturbate at work I'm assuming they're progressive enough to offer long-term disability.

 

Actually Hypersexuality is a common symptom of Bi-polar disorder. It does go to show the difference between the US and Brazil.
