The question mentioned marriage. Fair game on a three time groom. And it was what some marriage and sex oriented brains were wondering.
I think she did it well, in the moment. It flowed.

Since Sawyer is reperesentimg mainstream America, too much shown knowledge on screen would confuse issues.
I did a decade reporting. My article on a transgender child is on this site. (Copied from the newspaper archive)
I could never have covered all my bases. I didn't know everything. my photographer, a lesbian with trans friends, didn't have it all. The kiddo surely didn't. Neither parent was an expert, and stil aren't, although the kiddo is a lovely young woman today, aside from eye rolling and teen girl behavior.
My job was to learn and relay. I did that. And pulled a press association award for it.
I am proud of that article. It made the readers look into a life most cannot even imagine. It made them face their bias of opinion being inflicted on a second-grader. One even visited the family to apologize. (That part made me cry.)

Don't forget, it is Jenner's story to tell. Not Sawyer's.

Plus totally clueless has gotten many a statement that wouldn't have been made otherwise. It is a valuable card.
As a short female, I pulled it more than once. And I got someone to lie himself into a corner...on tape, in print.
A small victory, but conniving, lying politicians deserve the exposure.

I hope that it doesn't play into no one has a sex life after 50 fallacy.

What fallacy....never really heard that. But 65 is quite a bit different than 50. And I know many older people enjoy sex but for many it just isn't as important as it once was. It's almost a driving force in one's youth. I felt that was what Bruce meant. And that he has bigger things on his mind than having sex.

Might I enquire to your age, at least by decade?

Last night, completely by accident, Bill Maher referred to Bruce Jenner as Bruce Gender! Nobody in the audience seemed to pick up on it. Best joke of the night.

Bruce is being sued now for that accident he was in. Who knows the facts of that? No one will ever know the truth...only the people involved and had first hand knowledge do.

I didn't find it funny. But I'm happy for you.

P.S. How do you know nobody in the audience seemed to pick up on it? Were you there?

This is a borderline reactionary statement big time. First of all, why do you assume that trans people have nothing better to do w/their time than to hang out in "trendy" LGBT bars? I don't do it. And I know I'm not the only one. I also have other stuff going on, so that's why I was hoping the Bruce Jenner interview might give me a better understanding of what it means to be trans.

And homosexuals and bisexuals are not trans. Did you not listen to the part of the interview where Bruce said he was not gay? Also, just curious why you used the word "trendy" (twice) in a single paragragh? If you think it is trendy to be trans in a straight world where identifying yourself as trans might lead to assault or worse, you clearly are lacking in understanding and compassion. Just my 2 cents :)

P.S. I'm starting to see why so few trans folks have stated their opinion on the Bruce Jenner interview. There is still a huge bias. So why should a trans person even bother to state an honest opinion about what it's like to be trans? It's just making it easier for the haters to hate....

As for myself, I am old and totally fearless. I just want to make it safer for young trans people that are living in the now. The past has been a national disgrace, so I hope the future will be a lot safer. Big time.

I see that mostly as an age thing.

I'll let my English teachers know that they fucked up by giving me passing grades.

Can we say being blatantly evasive? I made the dean's list, so what the hell does that have to do with a sensitive issue like trans? Yeah, it is totally trendy to be trans. Okay. Your bad. Own up to it. Or do you speak for the wounded and dead? Do tell...
