That is true that homosexuality between animals isn't heard of very often; but humans are one of the only animals that have sex for pleasure. Unless sexual intercourse without procreation in mind is a sin, then it could not be a sin to have sexual intercourse with another member of the same gender. Just because two men or two women have sex with eachother doesn't mean it's any different (on the affection level, that is) from sexual intercourse between a heterosexual couple. They are both doing it for pleasure, not procreation, so why is it a sin?

 

Personally, I can not accept statements from the bible as a way to back up someone's opinion. The bible was written by man; it was translated from Latin by a corrupt church during the medival periods; there could be numerous texts left out and there are several contradictions in the bible. If homosexuality is a sin, but anybody who accepts Jesus Christ as your savior will have their sins forgiven; then why are homosexuals condemned to go to hell?

I never said that sex between a man and a woman was not ment to be enjoyable. Nor did I say that homosexuals couldn't enjoy it. Nor do I think that Two men or two women can not have that loving bond. According to The Bible I read and believe in, homosexuality is wrong. I am simply pointing out that the way we are made, and looking at most of nature around us, a penis is used to deliver sperm into a vagina. Yes, but that does not necessarily mean that every verse is true. I'm just as much to blame (for lack of better vocabulary) for not providing proof to this statement as you are for providing counter-proof; neither of us lived and witnessed anything from these time periods. Although the experiences you may have had in your lifetime (the miracles you spoke of) are your proof that the bible has some truth to it, I don't think you have enough experiences to cover all the events that took place.

I know that you more than likely already realized this (in fact, I probably shouldn't even say it, but, oh well), but not everyone is Christian, and even some that are, don't feel that homosexuals should change their lifestyle meerly to please God's set of sins (temptations, you could call them that too I suppose) to avoid in life.

No need for that, I was directing it at Moonjava; I already learned in a previous post of yours that you still tolerate homosexuals, which is good. That calmed my responses from a fiery blaze to a calm debate, that's why I haven't been so aggressive since.

 

I used to be a very religious Christian and I know the Bible pretty well. Now I noticed some very strange things:

* Only the old Testament is very clear about homosexuality, but it's only two or three verses in all those books. I hope you know this: when Christ died on the cross he fulfilled the whole old Testament, that's the reason why we don't have to eat Kosher and we don't have all those rules about killing men and women after just a simple mistake.

* Jesus didn't even mention homosexuality once. Nor did his disciples, only Paul is mentioning it in very mysterious ways. Jesus would have said something about it, when he thought it was of any importance, but he didn't!

 

I remember Pim Fotuyn. I didn't care for his beliefs on immigration, but it was very unfortunate that he was murdered.

If anyone thinks my sense of humor is sick, please say so: In my dream world, if there are any blatantly homophobic people who are parents, one of their children would come out of the closet. That would make for an interesting scenario.

Are you saying once again that you have incontrovertible proof of your god’s existence? The American Revolution has a lot of documentation and material evidence from both sides of that dispute.


As far as I can remember there is no contemporary material for Jesus’ life at the time of his preaching and supposed miracles they come some 30 to 80 years after the events. There are no independent sources for events (that are from people not with a vested interest in seeing Jesus as the messiah). You wish to see Christ as the son of your god, but you are basing this mainly on reports and writers that had a vested interest in convincing you.

It would seem that you want me to look at the events of Jesus’ life with the same critical eye I would bring to the study of the American Revolution.

None of the sources of his life and work can be traced to Jesus himself; he did not leave a single known written word. Also, there are no contemporary accounts written of his life and death. What can be established about the historical Jesus depends almost without exception on Christian traditions, especially on the material used in the composition of the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke, which reflect the outlook of the later church and its faith in Jesus.
