Ok. So if Person A says they are convinced they are a wolf trapped in a human body and howl at the moon, and Person B goes around telling everyone he is Jim Morrison reincarnated and he truly believes it, and Person C is woman who tells everyone she's a man. What are the fates of persons A, B, and C? Society will throw A and B in a mental hospital, while The rest of us are supposed to accept that person C is normal otherwise we are close minded "transphobes." Should we release all the A's and B's from the loony bin because we should accept them for the identity of who they say they are? That's what happens when you draw the line nowhere.
That falls into the tranny granny porn genre..... Ew damn looks like I hit a nerve . Frankly, I don't give a damn what his/her/it's name is. Caitlin Jenner. There you go. Happy? The DSM is consisted of a board of imperfect people who vote disorders in and out of existence. It's actually still there listed as gender disphoria. It's most likely they caved in under the order of the Politically Correct police force to change it in the name of sensitivity.
So What You Are Saying Here Is It's Quite Possible You Would Kill Someone Just Because You Were So Stupid You Couldn't Tell The Bloody Difference...???? You Are In Need Of Some Serious Help Matey.... :argue: Cheers Glen.
Yo Pacific Dude, sorry to blow razberries on this parade, Isn't this the ultimate manifestation of 1% white privelige? If She had, instead purchased a Mazzerotti or a mansion, we all here could agree that she is pumping her ego with conspicious consumption. We give transformation a pass because we all want to be tolerant and decent we don't want to come off as a redneck. Caitlyn's transformation comes from the cocoon of wealth, media accolades and Hollywood showmanship. This is the "Alice in Wonderland" of trans experience. None will be available to your average person in her situation, You do know the nastiness that people will encounter. What type of expectations is this creating for people with similar inclinations?
What is your point? That she should have quietly denied her true self so that she didn't come off as privileged? High-profile transitions that get discussions going are a GOOD THING. For all of the backlash and flack, the majority are handling it a hell of a lot more maturely than they did with Chaz Bono. I find all of this very heartening, but all you can think of is jealousy at the fact that she has access to an easier transition? Listen. I am an angry peasant too. I did not have the best of everything growing up. Hell, at the beginning of the year, I was considering applying for food stamps because I was living paycheck to paycheck. I would never think of disagreeing with the fact that privilege exists and that we should be aware of it. HOWEVER, begrudging someone their ability to BE WHO THEY ARE is not something I can bring myself to do in the name of calling out privilege. Yes, it is tragic when the less fortunate are unable to transition. That doesn't mean Caitlyn should not have transitioned. That does not mean she shouldn't have done so in a high-profile way. Yes, it sets the bar higher than it is right now, but that just shows how much things need to change so that it ISN'T only the privileged who have access to transitioning as an attainable thing. If you were just pointing it out and saying the system is fucked, I agree with you, but don't target her. She's done nothing wrong in this. She even admits that she's not a pioneer: "You look at some of the pioneers in getting the message out — Laverne Cox, Janet Mock, Geena Rocero, people like that," Jenner, the 1970s Olympian and Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, said in a new video by Vanity Fair. "Back in the '80s, I was alone. And I'm kind of following in their footsteps. They made it easier for me." She added, "I hope with my honesty, I can make it easier for somebody else down the line." http://www.vox.com/2015/6/3/8721531/caitlyn-jenner-transgender-poverty
Also, I'm not pretending to be tolerant of her so I don't look like a "redneck" as you put it. I don't think of it as being tolerant so much as a non-issue. This says more about your leanings than anything else.
and conversely I am just as disappointed and dismayed at the people who hold him/her/it up on some pedestal as if they found he cure for cancer and non-fattening ice cream that tastes good or something equally earth shatteringly important..... nope, dude just wanted to be a girl. Big Fucking Deal!!! No news here folks, move along, move along...
It's noteworthy because trans people are treated like a punchline. Intolerance and hate kill. http://www.vocativ.com/culture/lgbt/transgender-suicide/ I agree that no one was holding Chaz Bono up to this standard, but things have evolved, and I think it's a good thing. After the way he was treated, who would ever want to publicly transition ever again? It is a brave act. People may be celebrating more enthusiastically than you feel they should, but maybe it's just out of relief after the years of oppression and hatred and shitty jokes. Maybe this is the flavor of the month cause that everyone is jumping on. That might be true. It's stupid, but it's the way the human race works, and I would rather this issue have its 5 minutes of fame so we can talk about it and be aware of it than have it be more about Kim's ass. I'm not saying all publicity is good, but awareness is good, and getting people talking is good. Even this discussion is good. That's what important means. It doesn't mean other things aren't, and it's not a contest. It's just saying this deserves some attention, too. Society is an extremely inhospitable place for trans people. That needs to change, and if we don't talk about it, it never will. Just get straight with yourself about who/what you're really mad at is all I'm saying. Shaming someone because they aren't battling cancer and they had the audacity to speak up is bullshit. Just because you don't automatically value their struggle doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Maybe if you walked a mile in their shoes you would care.
I'm not mad at anyone about this stupidity. for me it is a non-issue, so not deserving of all the hoopla. I can appreciate whatever these folks may be going through, but let us be clear about one thing, it isn't normal by any stretch of anyone's imagination, so please do not insult my intelligence by trying to convince me otherwise, and stop making him sound like some super star because he finally decided to dress like woman full time. Big Fucking Deal! I'm not shaming him/her/it, but rather you folks who are in awe and are almost worshipful of the doofus. The things people hold up as worthy achievements.....what a joke.
Wow. The second-hand embarrassment I am feeling from your blatant ignorance is making it difficult to formulate a reply... Okay, here goes... nor·mal ˈnôrməl/ adjective 1. conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected. By this definition, no, her actions have not been considered normal by the mainstream. But that is clearly beginning to change, and that is why this is being celebrated. The attempt to normalize it is worthwhile to stop the oppression that they face. This is why the discussion is important. This is why people should care. Your refusal to use the correct pronouns when referring to her further illustrates your prejudice. At best, it's extremely rude and disrespectful. At worst, it's hateful and discriminatory. I'm not sure what you're afraid is going to happen to you if you just stop being a dick about it- pretty weird for someone who says it's a non-issue. Or maybe it's so much of a non-issue that you haven't bothered to educate yourself about it. Either way, you need to catch up. This kind of behavior isn't okay anymore.
This is a pretty lousy example because its 2015 and people are only involuntarily committed to mental hospitals if they're a danger to others. So exhibit A will at worst get some noise complaints made against them every full moon and exhibit B will probably just be laughed at. I dont personally understand why people care so much. A man who wants to wear make up and dresses literally has zero, none, no effect on your life and yet you're suggesting they all be committed to a mental institution. This is the scariest aspect of humanity to me - the propensity towards needing to control others for no real reason except one doesn't like or understand something.
Let's not forget Renée Richards (born August 19, 1934) is an American ophthalmologist, author and former professional tennis player. In 1975, Richards underwentsex reassignment surgery. She was denied entry into the 1976 US Open by the United States Tennis Association, citing an unprecedented women-born-women policy. She disputed the ban, and the New York Supreme Court ruled in her favor in 1977. This was a landmark decision in favor of transsexualrights.[2] Through her fight to play tennis as a woman, she challenged gender roles and became a role model and spokesperson for the transgender community. -Wikipedia.
You must be controlled and be exactly what I want you to be. You must live as I want you to live. You must act exactly as I want you to act. You must look exactly as I want you to look. NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED.Otherwise, you are very wrong in how you are living your life. Mainly because I am very much the arbiter of ALL HUMAN ACTIONS. So do not dispute what I think and say or you'll pay for your useless and weird opinions. I'll be posting my rules soon and I expect everyone to read--AND OBEY. (Translation= post put up to help those that haven't the guts to state their true opinions.) Have a nice day and fuck you.
