hey Rye~~ Canyon Country Bluegrass is just the scene around here~~ Maybe you've heard of The Hickory Project, North Fork, Cherry Flats Ridge Pluckers, etc... They're all local bands. Hmm... here's some links if you're curious www.hickoryproject.com , www.canyoncountrybluegrass.com , http://www.dint.com/THP/Hickory_Fest/hickory_fest.htm. If you're into bluegrass you should really check out hickoryfest (music in the moutains), they have it at the campground my father used to own and it is a really beautiful spot. Its also a nice n affordable festival, & actually out of all the ones i go to big and little this one is probably my favorite, The Hickory Project rounds up some awesome bands from all over the place... It'd be cool to get some hipforums kids to come this summer :)

    Hello!

I'm not a PA head but I used to live near pittsburgh. I still have a huge love for the place (though I grew up hating those 8-hour drives along 80/81). Maybe my travels will take me there soon! I hope.

    Cheers.

I'm originally from the Lehigh Valley, but I'm not a head any more (except in my mind). Ever been to Illick's Mill in Bethlehem? It was renovated by the Philosophy Club at Liberty H.S. in the mid-60's and used for concerts. A couple of years ago, I found out that some of the original people, some new ones, and another teacher got together and resurrected it. I haven't had a chance to get back there yet.

Liberty or Freedom? My class of about 1100 in 1966 was the largest to graduate from Liberty, because 1968 would have been a bigger class, but about half of them were transferred to the new school.

One of the best bands of all time, The Munchkins, used to play there. Craig, the guitarist, and Larry, the bassist, both graduated with me from Liberty. While they (and I) were at Penn State, they got a new drummer from England and changed their name to The Pound Sterling, and were supposed to record for Capitol, but apparently they were always too strung out to get together on a recording date. Craig's been dead for about 15 years now, and I only know of one recording, "Moog Song" b/w "Only Wise Men Die" (Polydor), which I found on the web and bought from the Netherlands. (Craig had gone to Amsterdam in the early 70's to produce records.) Unfortunately, there's barely even a hint of his überClapton-style guitar work on it.
