Lets say it's 2 a.m. and a terrorist flies a plane in to your house.In both cases they would have the jump on us and have some of those guns that you are so eager to supply.Why is protecting my property extreme?With land mines they would have never made it to the house in the first place.Whoever agrees or disagrees with this concept have no impact on it's validity.It stands on it's own merit.It don't matter what kills a person.If you're the dead one,it was all extreme.

Guns for getting food is OK. Not my cuppa tea. Don't trust them for defense, but then my eye hand coordination sucks. I have a hand gaff hook that I keep under my pillow when I'm in situations where I think I might be vulnerable. Which isn't often as I avoid such places and situations. As for defense of property... I'm of the opinion that none of us can really own anything. The main reason for buying property is to keep from being run off repeatedly as a squatter. So long as the thing they've stolen isn't my kid, so what? It's just stuff and I really have far too much of that as is. If it is my kid, I'm not likely to need a firearm to kill them anyway.

 

If an armed intruder invades my home, my family and I will hide. If we are found, then we'll beg for our lives.

3 indicted in shooting death of church organist

(April 7, 2006) — A grand jury today indicted three men in the shooting death of minister and church organist Herschel Scriven last month.

Antwon Owens, 20, the alleged shooter, was charged with first-degree murder, which could send him to prison for the rest of his life without the possibility of parole, said Monroe County District Attorney Michael C. Green.

Co-defendants Lucious Peters, 19, and Jacob Rouse, 19, were charged with second-degree murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years to life in prison.

All three are scheduled to be arraigned Monday before County Court Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr.

In the meantime, they're being held without bail in County Jail.

Scriven, 23, was shot in the head March 9 as he backed his car out of a driveway on Magnolia Street. He had just dropped off a child after attending a performance of The Lion King at the Auditorium Theatre.

Scriven died five days later at Strong Memorial Hospital.

When Owens, Peters and Rouse were arrested Monday, Rochester police said they believed Scriven's shooters were about to conduct a street robbery when Scriven accidentally backed his car into their path.

Acting Police Chief Timothy Hickey credited community outrage for tips that led to the arrests.

A former Police Department probationary officer has been convicted of reckless assault and tampering with evidence in the pre dawn shooting of his girlfriend’s sister at a friend’s Ozone Park apartment two years ago.
After 3 1/2 days of deliberating, a jury on Friday found Jeffrey Rivera, 26, of Jamaica, guilty of the two felonies. The former rookie police officer assigned to the 70th Precinct in Brooklyn now faces up to seven years in prison.

“The defendant stands convicted of recklessly shooting and seriously injuring his girlfriend’s 18 year old sister, who, fortunately, survived her brush with death,” said District Attorney Richard Brown in a statement.
According to trial testimony, while in the kitchen of a friend’s apartment at 107 49 100th St. in Ozone Park at about 2:30 a.m. on July 22, 2004, Rivera removed his department issued 9mm Smith and Wesson semi automatic pistol from its holster and showed it to friends. While the handgun was pointed in the direction of his girlfriend’s sister, Justina Diaz, it discharged, striking her in the chest and seriously wounding her.
A court authorized search warrant was executed at the crime scene later that day and a disassembled 9mm semi automatic pistol was recovered by the NYPD Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
“The defendant, who at the time of the incident had recently graduated from the Police Academy, should have known better than to display a loaded firearm in a roomful of people. He must now live with the burden of knowing that his conduct led to an innocent girl being shot,” Brown said.
Supreme Court Justice Judge Blumenfeld, who presided at the 10 day trial, scheduled sentencing for May 12. Rivera remains free on $10,000 bail.

Three Charged in Trooper Shooting

Three people now face attempted murder charges after the shooting of an Arkansas state police officer Monday night.
Corporal Robert Meek of Harrison was shot after he tried to stop a speeding car.

He is in good condition at a hospital in Springfield.

Arkansas state police say Latoya Randolph, 20, of Mooresville, Indiana, and Brian Holzheimer, 25, of Harrison, (above) are both charged with "criminal intent to commit capital murder."

Officers say they were passengers in the stolen vehicle that was involved in a drive-by shooting at a near Harrison Monday, and then a high-speed chase.

The driver of the car, and the person accused of actually shooting Meek, Michael Spurlock, 36, of Canatsey, Indiana. He is also charged with intent to commit capital murder.

Spurlock is still in the hospital, recovering from the gunshot wound he received when Meek returned fire.

All three also face charges of fleeing from authorities and theft.

Spurlock and Randolph also face additional charges of being convicted felons in possession of a firearm.
