If you take leaf or stem cuttings from each plant as it grows, technically you could keep the biology of the plant living forever.

I got all pensive with this question. I never really thought about it actually.

Now this is a truly original random thought, something you don't see often here at Random Thoughts.

I think those kind of "jokes" are very lame. Same with the "..... NOT" ones.

Yea, I thought she might be. I actually use that one a lot, in real life. I just didn't know if it was popular/existent in Croatia.

Plants can and do die of old age. Every day.

    They are alive. Quite alive.

The bark is like reptile skin. Thick and able to handle scars. It protects the cambium layer below that is alive. It transfers sugars and water throughout. It is a collection of cells that register pain, die, and multiply.

All plants are alive, including trees. They communicate with the world around them, they have internal systems (though simple) just like us. They register pain, they communicate pain, and they keep track of life cycle.

They do die of old age. A plant in old age loses its ability to produce high volumes of sugars that produce turgid mass.

Yeah I personally did not understand this thread. I don't like throwing "common sense" speeches about buuuut, man. This was brutal.
