Was that supposed to be a joke?

People giving up and not voting is what got us into this position in the first place. More people usually don't vote then those who do.

    You know what it accomplished?

    the harper government

This seriously is the only time they actually ever ask our opinion, and it actually has a serious outcome on the fate of our country. Not voting isnt protesting, its just lazy.

also i agree with tom. Anything But Conservative!

Defintely. I used to think that seniors who always voted conservative were a threat, then I checked some numbers and facts.

Young people who don't bother to vote are a real fucking wrench in the gears, they could really help to create change that could take things in a better direction.

Not voting isn't a political statement, it's just irresponsible and stupid.

    +1

I've voted in every possible election since I turned 18. Doesn't always turn out 'in my favour', but at least I did my part and tried.

Actually, that is the misconception that keeps a lot of people home.

An election is not about getting your way or having your candidate win... although yes, it is nice when it happens. It is your opportunity to express your opinion.

You succeed, by marking that ballot and dropping it in the box. (or however they do it in your area).

Anything beyond that (such as your candidate of choice winning) is just pure gravy.

One would think that people would be, not necessarily excited, but willing at least to go out and exercise their right to vote given what's happened over the past few months in the middle east. Hundreds, perhaps thousands died, while thousands more were injured trying to fight for their right to vote.

All we here in the west have to do is walk, drive at the most, up the street and drop a ballot in a box.

It would be a good thing if people were to go sign this, or at the very least, read it.

Seriously... how much worse does this get before people say WTF?

Thanks for all the links and graphs you've been posting Tom, you're keeping me on the ball.

At this point all I can really say is thank Jebus for The Bloc. If it weren't for them there'd be a lot of Conservative majorities in Canada. For whatever reason Quebec often votes very Conservative. The Bloc is the only thing stopping a Conservative majority from happening.

Though according to Ignatieff they can get one without Quebec...

Went thru all the videos and enoyed them much. "get my moose on". Funny guy. It sounds to me like this guy Harper wants to make Canada more like the US. Get rid of the healthcare? What the hell? Good luck getting the youngins' out to vote. I travelled across Canada in 1970 and the people were really friendly to 5 hippies from Hawaii--I'll never forget it.

I travelled across the country in the late 80's... people were still mostly friendly then... its been getting worse... and that is what bothers me... some of it was inevitable... with harper though... it's like he not only wants to make us 'americanized' in some ways, he wishes to do it with undisputed power...

I realize that some people think I am overstating things when I say he wants to be a dictator, but I really don't think I am... That would be his ideal position... I think he will push our democracy as far in that direction as he can. Then, he will push it further... and further... and everyone will suddenly look around and go... what the hell happened? and it will be too late...

That's why I really want to see the cons get crushed this election, even though I am not hopeful for it... I am pretty sure we will have a minority government again no matter what happens this election. Whether that is under harper, a coalition, or the liberals is the only question really...

I would prefer it was the liberals, just because that would totally crush harpers mind... likely cause a short circuit resulting in his head exploding into thousands of sparks, gears flying everywhere, little springs zipping about.... It would be quite the sight...

I don't think that's overstating it. The man wanted to rename OUR government, from the 'Government of Canada' to 'The Harper Government'

It's our government. One wouldn't rename the military, 'The Harper Military'. The military serves in the name of Canada. The Prime Minister serves in the name of Canada.

Yea, I'm not sure Lockheed Martin meant for the Harper T-45 Model to serve two terms. He'll probably start showing his wear shortly.

    ^^^

That's fucked. I had no idea he was that into himself. Can you remember back to just after the first election he won? People were saying that he didn't even want the job, that he didn't want to be a leader. I have a relative that worked for him who confirmed this.

    Now look at him...
