    I'm voting green.
I'm scared of the consevatives, and sick of the liberals.
I would rather the liberals get back in over the conservatives for sure, that stephen Harper has a scary face. seriously. I dont trust him at all.
just a feeling I have when I see him...I wanna run away and hide.
I was gonna vote liberal just so that conservatives dont get in, and I still might.
But I really want to vote green.
they seem fresh and new, something we need.

politics are so dirty these days.

I'm voting green because I view them as the only party which can give us what we truely need in this century: sustainability

In any given decision a government must make there are 3 factors they need to consider: the environmental factor, the social factor, and the economic factor. The environmental factor though is the trump card, without it and it's sustaining resources society and the economy colapse, it is the baseline. So many people simply write them off as crazy environmentalists when really they are political realists, they don't perscribe to left or right wing ideas persay, they simply make the best, sustainable choice, on any given issue.

Another thing I love about the greens, no corporate backing!!! Their policy making process is pure uninfluenced grass roots, and as a result they advocate for a political system which itself would function on the basis of grass roots democracy. They bring to the table issues like porportional represtation and greater political autonomy at the community level (concepts that scare the shit out of big bussiness because it takes away thier control aperatus of the political system)

The NDP would naturally be my second choice but I'm concerned that they would turn Ottawa into a far worse centralised beaurocratic mess then it already is and I doubt thier ability to deliver a balanced budget.

My french teacher was commenting on all the election stuff today and he said that since the last debate, its believed that a lot of views were swayed more towards conservative minority government, which would really suck...

but he also said that because of this, many ndp's would be likely to vote liberal simply because they dont want harper in there, martin isnt incredibly better but they definitly do not want harper in there, and they will just do whats known as "strategic voting", which is simply voting for the party that is closest to your own but is nearer to the top in order to beat out whoever else is going up there that you absolutely can not stand

I have considered myself liberal simply because of the belief system behind it in comparison to the conservatives, and also because I am not sure where the NDP and green party's stand on many issues, but I am interested in finding out

I wish i was old enough to vote but unfortunately that time isnt now....

Yep... that is what very likely could happen. It seems that for most Canadians, if you aren't voting for the Liberals, they vote PC. Except in SK... where it seems kosher to vote NDP. We might as well have to 2 party system that works so very well in the US, eh?

oh! sugar, don't do that. instead, protest if you feel the need.
go to the polls, get your ballot and hand it back and say "i protest all the candidates" or something along those lines. it will go down as a protested vote instead of nothing. don't waste your vote.
    ii'm really excited about voting.

i think that since we all have the right to vote, and so many people fought for that right, that we should at least do something.

there are also other parties. i think there are something like 300+ political parties in canada.

mmk, pretty much definitely voting NDP

why? Only people that bothered to target students. One of only two parties that addressed education (well, in my riding at least, the other candidates didn't mention it), and the only candidate who's information on his stand on issues was more than a paragraph long (ie, actually trying to inform his constituency as to what he believes in)

but, that's just me and my decision

Actually, considering you have the democratic right to run as a candidate, I'd hardly call that protestign.

Has anyone noticed this time around the conservatives are campaigning through a more liberal platform than say a conservative platform?

It is a smart move to win votes then do what you like once in office.

I see a lot of green but isn't green just a waste of vote?

    Trying to learn here

It seems most who vote "green" do so because of the environment but the NDP seems to have an environmental platform as good as the green or even better so what is the difference?

RE: Voting conservative also opens up plenty of cans of worms:
a)they aren't afraid of legislating morality (ie: reopening the legislation on gay marriage).

Oh please. The last time this sort of thing came around there was a free vote. Abortions are STILL legal in Canada as a result. The CA might have some weirdos amongst em but they fundamentally are a democratic party.

RE: b)they aren't afraid of opening a two-tier medical system. Of course, they wouldn't remove government health care, but this second, pay-for-service tier would leech doctors and nurses out of the public sector.

The Liberals are doing that right now. The reason for this? It works.

RE: c)spending ridiculous amounts of money on the military protecting our "sovereignty" in the arctic, while at the same time signing it away through NAFTA.
Many other issues would be poorly decided by the conservatives, including relations with the US, water-rights, etc.

That's already gone. And BTW if you have nothing to defend sovereignty with you lose it. The army does more than kill people - it does peacekeeping, and it shovels out Toronto when they can't figure out how to run a plow.

And why is he so "scary"?

Can't you vote a policy rather than what he looks like?

BTW if you vote other than conservative you get Martin back, a known theif and liar.

well, every vote that goes to Green will give the party $1.75 to build it up. Maybe Harris will someday be on television!! :X
I personally, feel that Canada doesn't need to split the votes by having 3 left-of-center parties. In this election I've been impressed by Jack Layton's leadership, and his moustache.

I assume you're refering to the scandal? Like I said before THEY'RE FUCKING CORPORATE BACKED POLITICIANS. How many of them do you think AREN'T corrupt? Just because the Liberals got caught doesn't mean they've been the only corrupt party. Bad bad reason to vote conservative.

Green, on the other hand, has no corporate backing......I'd say the only pure (or at least purest) of the major parties.

Well, looks like the conservatives are gonna win minority...it's a sad time for Canada....I wonder if Martin will be as childish as Harper and squabble with the conservatives every chance he gets instead of helping to run the country. All you can do is sit back and laugh as everyone gets screwed over for their own stupidity. *giggle* *whimper* *sigh*

Budget? good question. Harper seemed to shit his pants at every mention of the word at the last debate. And he seemed really smart when he said that his plan to crack down on crime by hiring more cops and setting minimum sentances wouldnt cost any more money
