I'm very encouraged with Baby Kitty's progress this morning. After she'd eaten and gotten some human love, she took about six of the prettiest little steps to go back into her carrier! She did pass a worm in her stool so I'll be buying some wormer.
Baby Kitty just went hibbity-skibbity back into her carrier for the second time today. She can walk! She's still just very tired.
We haven't gotten that far yet. I'm not sure if she'd be happy being an indoor only cat. One of my cats, Trouble, is an indoor/outdoor cat; that may be how it goes with Baby Kitty. My next move, when she is well enough, will be to get her spayed.
Baby Kitty continues to do well! I'm wanting to encourage her to walk around my room but she doesn't want to do anything but walk back to her carrier when she's finished eating. I think she's a bit nervous with Hubby in the room. He wants to make friends with her but she's a little put off by his presence. I'm going to have to keep him out of the room when I get her out. I'll put her food across the room from the carrier so I can get her to walk around. She's walking great. I love seeing those few pretty little steps she's taking. Meow~
Baby Kitty relieves herself in the carrier on the thick towels, and believe me, I know it the instant she does... She had a long sunbath today and reached for my hand with her paw when I'd stop petting her. She had an adventure. I had to leave the room to get some more food and she went under the bed while I was gone. I let her stay under there a little while and left the room again to see if she'd come out and eat while I was gone. She didn't. Luckily, she was just under the foot of the bed and easy for me to get out. She's getting better and better but still needing some rest.
I don't know if this facebook link will work. I just saw this post about feral cats in Chicago that need a new caretaker. https://www.************/photo.php?...92808451.33809.171969749490612&type=1&theater "The caretaker that feeds in Addison, along Fullerton between Grace & Rt 53 is moving out of the area - SOON! We need someone to take over the care of the three colonies along Fullerton, even just one if possible. Most of the cats are tnr'd already but there is still work to be done as soon as the temperatures allow. The other caretakers who are close are already overwhelmed with the colonies they currently care for. Please contact gotferalcats@feralfixers.org if you or someone you know can help these cats!"
How is Baby today? I wish people would realize those statistics above. Too many animals are put out for some reason or another and left to fend for themselves.
Specs, Baby Kitty is getting stronger but it's slow go as far as feeling like she is strong enough to go through anesthesia and spaying surgery. She's sweet. She comes out of the carrier by herself now and stops for me to pet her before she proceeds to the food bowl. She is still really timid around hubby, which I hate. I need to help her socialize with other humans. She's pretty much a one woman cat right now. She's great though. :sunny:
Completely true, though, I've seen it firsthand. That's exactly how we went from having two around the house to 32 in a matter of months.
We were lucky in that our first Sia (male) is a rare flame point siameese and Missy is an even rarer Arizona paint with enough sense and agility to survive at least 6 months+ on her own in coyote country and they are proven snakers. The kittens were in demand and we managed to get Missy fixed while we had fallen for only 4 keepers.
