A friend that has rescued a lot of animals is going to take them when my lease runs up at the end of the month. She'll let them have more time with mama and help find homes for them.
This Is What I Want You To Do When You Get Settled In Your New Home. Adopt Some Kittens So They Grow Up With Erin The Crow, If You Were To Adopt A Full Grown Cat, I Feel Erin May Be At Risk.... Cheers Glen.
No doubt that there will be more critters after Ty is settled again. :2thumbsup: He is an animal whisperer.
I've moved my bedroom to another room in the house and Baby Kitty has happily made the move. She's playing on top of my bed which she never did until today. This morning, I watched her play tag with one of the other cats. There's another young cat hanging around and it's so gorgeous that I can't believe it doesn't have a home. It may, but it sure likes to hang out here and next door at my son's house. I think it may be a young Maine Coon. It's very friendly so I should be able to get some pics this weekend. It's probably the most beautiful cat that I have ever seen. I'll get pics of Baby Kitty playing on the bed too. My camera is put away right now.
There's a feral male that I'm going to need to trap and take to animal control. This cat is mean and he keeps beating up my cats. He made a huge open gash in my old sick cat, R.J. That's healing better than I ever expected it to. I've seen him fight and he tries to fight to the death. I saw him holding a cat down on it's back and going after its throat. I ran down the street in the middle of the night and barley got that fight broken up. I think that was my old R. J. that he had down. My cats stay gone from there home for a day or so after he beats them up. He is coming up for food. I wouldn't leave food out except Baby Kitty's mother, who is feral, eats here and she's feeding a new litter. I suppose I really don't need to be feeding her breeding-self either. Last night the feral tom came onto my front porch, where I had fed my cats closer to the door, and battled my young male, Thunder Cat. Thunder Cat ran for shelter, under the porch, and got trapped there with that big cat beating his poor ass. I managed to get out of the bathroom and run out to break it up. Then the feral sits in the yard growling at me. It really is time for this one to go away.
My son and husband saw the feral tom today. He is in bad shape. Both sides of his face are ripped open deeply and bleeding. His face is swollen so that his eyes are mostly closed. He also has deep gashes in his front armpits. I guess my Thunder Cat got the better of him when he had him under our porch last night. Damn, I hate that. I hate to see any animal wounded.
For future ref a good tool for dealing with cats who come up on your lanai or daring to growl at you on your own turf is a spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of vinegar & water. If you can hit them in the nose a time or two they'll look for a new hang out. That just might have a healing/antiseptic effect in this case.
Baby Kitty is in heat and sings her little heart out now and again. She will be making a trip to Cat Snip mobile unit soon. I know, I owe you pics of her...I have to remember to get the good camera out of the closet before my grandson goes to sleep in that roon.
Lil'Girl went through this... All night long she would make every sound/meow/purr she could think of... Sounded weird but funny at the same time. Female kitties can have a litter as young as 5-6 months old. Get her fixed as soon as possible if there are any un neutered males around.
One cat in the shelter I work in, Meredith, is so funny when she comes into heat. She's the only un-nuetered cat in the shelter - barr the new mama cats and their kittens. Poor Meredith couldn't care less if she is a cat or not, any male she see's whether its an animal or human, she tries to seduce. She can't get nuetered though because of a heart condition that means she can't get put under as its too risky. Definietly best to get her done soon, we have a mama cat with a litter of 5 thats just come in and she is only around 7 months old herself! I want to see pictures of Baby Kitty.
I have had so many cats it would be boring to people to tell the story of each abandoned cat I've taken in. The last cat I went and got myself peed all over the house, making my older male pee all over everything (both are fixed), so I had to put them outside. And I said never ever would I take in another cat. No sooner than I said that, someone dumped 2 kittens about a month apart from each other out at my house. Needless to say, I couldn't stand the thought of them being killed at a shelter, so they are now living in my house. But after these two, I will never ever take in another cat. 5 is enough! I also have another one in the house that I found on the sidewalk in front of my house 9 years ago, she was so young I had to bottle feed her. She came from a feral colony in the neighborhood and was left by the mother.
I'm pretty used to it because Mabon isn't spayed yet either. However, Piper, the dog has never heard this stuff before. She was awakened by it the another night and left my grandson's room to come sleep with me...I could almost hear Piper saying, "WTF is wrong with that cat???".
It is interesting having only one cat after having 7... He doesn't know who he's supposed be impressing or fighting with. :willy_nilly:
