One of mine is missing right now.

Ozzie hasn't been seen since hubby let him out early on Wednesday morning.

Please send some good vibes to my "Crazy Train" Ozzie.

Ozzie has been gone for 10 days.

Bane was bitten by a Copperhead last evening.

    He is fine.

We rushed him to the emergency vet because he was in so much pain and the swelling was so big. We thought he might have had a broken foot.

He's got antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and tramadol.

Poor guy. His pupils are huge from the poison but he does seem to feel better than Stacy did when he got bit and had no drugs for it.

Oh My!!! Thank goodness Bane is fine. With an animal as small as a cat, a copperhead can inflict a fatal bite.

I don't "know" Bane; but I still know I love him.

    Thanks, Lynn!

I was reading that if a cat is bitten on the paw or the head they have a much better chance of surviving than if they are bitten elsewhere on the body.

Made a breakthrough with the wild cat today. He sniffed my fingers... but still no touching. He still hangs out on the front steps, seems well fed, happy. But not too friendly. My new girl, Miss Foxey, snarls at him from the window and he runs away. Funny, he's a big cat, she is tiny. I'd be surprised if she weighs ten pounds.

Probably don't want to touch him anyway, his fleas could follow me inside...

? Should I encourage him to hang out, or go away, that is the question ?

I say keep doing what you're doing! I think its wonderful that he has a safe place to stay (under the steps, right?) and regular food there. I think that is why so many wild cats wind up sick is because they are basically on a never ending search for food. I really think that if you just keep on, you 2 will be on friendly "speaking" terms.

Around here, it has always been the smallest cat that has ruled the roost. Always! Little Monkeybrown (rip) was 8 pounds at her largest and honest to God, she would 1st GLARE down any cat that thought it might intimidate her. Then, if her evil glare didn't put them in their place, she would fight and roll them in the floor...seriously. Once she and BB (the current smallest Boss here) got into it and Monkey kicked BB's butt. lordhavemercy You could tell BB was shocked! :D

That's amazing about small cats. My Bunny/Foxey is smart also... smarter than any cat I have met yet. She has a distinct vocabulary of several words she uses appropriately...

    NO being foremost.

Before she found us she was at the neighbors for a few days. It didn't work out, she was terrified of the other large dogs and big cats. Spent her days there in hiding... so my neighbor asked me to come over and see if I liked her. It was love at first site... she jumped into my arms and we went home.

The neighbor had adopted her from the Shelter in Anderson Valley. I spoke to the folks there and found out her back story... an elderly woman had adopted her as a kitten but never got her fixed. When she passed, the cat got out and got pregnant... the shelter took her in and fixed her up and she is one happy girl now!

Her first guardian trained her with a clicker, now I need to get a couple so we can use that. She responds really well to any clicking sound.

Bane is doing well. He is slowly recovering.

He is done with his 3 days of anti-inflammatory, but still has antibiotics and trammadol for pain.

His eyes are not as dilated today so I know the poison is leaving his system.

His foot swelling has gone down and he is moving around the house alot more today.

He laid by the glass front door but still isn't asking to go outside.

I wanted to let everyone know that putting the "water", that collects on the top of yogurt, in the eyes really does cure conjunctivitis!

I've done it for two days with Willow and Sassy and the cure is amazing!

I was walking the dog, in the grass, in the dark, wearing sandals when Trouble (cat) brought a live Copperhead out of the neighbors lawn and into the street.

I scooped him up and ran him and the dog back to the house to get a hoe. When I got back to the street I couldn't find the snake, so I ran back to get the car and used it's headlights to find the little fucker. By this time hubby was outside and killed it.

That little bastard was moving fast too. It had covered alot of ground.

I'm not even sure it was the same snake. I thought it was bigger than the one he killed.

    I probably imagined that.

Bane was playing with something in the neighbors yard about a month ago, in the same damn spot that I saw trouble playing with this one. It's just out in the grass. I wonder if that's coincidence or it there is a nest there.

The neighbors have about 3 or 4 preschoolers playing all over that yard, unattended, all the time. I sent the dad a facebook message so maybe he will tell his bitchy little wife to watch the damn kids.

My rescue cat Bunny is doing fabulous. Her former guardians were here playing with her yesterday remarking on how much happier she is and looking healthier with a shiny coat :)

I brush her twice a day... she LOOOVES it :)

It's good she loves to be brushed. Most of mine like it except Bane. If you hit a knot, he will snap at you to stop. If you get the scissors, he will bite your hand, hold it in his mouth an shake it! He seriously doesn't like being groomed.

WoW! I am glad Bunny is a short hair... and she likes cleaning herself anyway. :)

My last cat would be outside playing and come in with burrs, I had to comb them out every day. He didn't like it, but if I didn't he would chem them out and swallow them. That can't be good, these burrs are really hard, sharp round balls with spikes all over them and there's a gazillion out there in the bush this year after the winter rains.

We have a King Snake in the garden, but I hear they aren't venomous.
