Reading so far...guilty, not guilty. The talking heads/past pros. att. from TV, took this story to the max. If I remember right, there was a little black girl who was taken to a motel and murdered. ????? a little boy missing, daddy kill him?????? There were about 5 child murders around this time of caylee missing. At the time, no body of caylee. At the same time 4 bodies surfaced of the heartbreaking children. This case[caylee] was doomed from the beginning. No matter the outcome, the P.A. could not prove their case in court. Thank goodness for the fifth ammend. and the right to a trial of our peers. History must not repeat itself, in lynch mob mentality. burning women at the stake, mass killings. The people who are missing work [jobs] to picket against the verdict should sweep out their own house. I might be old fashioned, but I believe you are innocent until proven guilty. Your feelings or emotions don't count. I live in peace both mind and body.

I'm pretty sure there were a lot more child murder and abuse cases around the time Caylee disappeared and much more since then that have been completely ignored by the media and I think it's disgusting that Nancy Grace got on her high horse over this single case and got the whole nation to collect their pitchforks and torches. Just in my area alone, in the past year, I've heard of a little boy who was murdered by his own father just days after being placed in his custody. Then there was the baby who suspiciously suffocated just across town and his father is in jail on murder charges now. And then there was the case just a couple of weeks ago in which a little 4 year old boy was found standing in the middle of the interstate as two semis both zoomed past him, missing him by centimeters. He was first choked and then thrown from his father's car as he drove and when they got the little guy to the hospital, they found 500 cactus thorns embedded in his little body. Wonder if Nancy Grace will talk about any of those babies?

I can't help but wonder Nancy Grace's national distraction campaign made it difficult for the local investigators to do their jobs. That self-made one woman lynch mob may well have spoiled the chance for justice herself by fanning a raging media circus that Orange County legal system wasn't prepared to deal with. I wonder how much it affects the cost of investigating and prosecuting the matter.

Perhaps Ms. Grace should be tried in the court of public opinion for screwing any chance that there would be justice for Caylee Anthony because it was far more important to emphasize the trademark of "Nancy Grace" as a tireless fighter for justice than it is actually fighting for justice.

Ramona and stinkfoot: I agree with both of you. I think we're on the same page. NG comes up with all the hype and only feeds on the weak. What ever happened to the little black girl [mixed] whose white dad let her visit her mom, the mom's boyfriend raped and killed her in a motel. The precious little baby who was taken from his dad and the mom went into the desert, in fact there were two cases of missing children in the SW. Caylee's justice was tried in the streets and the popular NG talking heads. I feel we show too much on TV. All those picketeers should be using that energy to speak out against job loss, All children's rights, peace and bettering their neighborhood watch. These are my opionions.

An article I just found on Casey's Law that has been floating around...

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/11/caylees-law-casey-anthony-_n_893953.html

It makes a lot of sense.

What I don't understand is all of the hype of our nation "mourning" this child now. All of a sudden, people are upset about the child. What happened when she died like 3 years ago or whatever? Where was everyone on that?

The jury had no physical evidence Anthony killed her daughter. People need to chill with this whole thing

I'm sorry - I just can't write off the death of a three year old child as insignificant - even in view of all the problems this nation has. It grieves me that all the other children are not given the attention Caylee was - but they have not - and I refuse to write off Caylee as just another little child lost. If we, in the hip community have become so hardened to the tragedy of one innocent child because of all the other bigger issues, then shame on us. Each child is precious and perhaps bringing this little child to the forefront will help another little child that is no quite so well publicized. Some of these "BIG" issues are distractions from the little tragedies that happen to the powerless every day.
I say shame on the hip community for dismissing this tragedy as insignificant.
Casey Anthony was no mother - she "lost" her child and partied on.
But really - our community doesn't see it as a big deal - not with unemployment at 9.8%.

I'm more worried about all the kids who are starving to death and dying in wars every day than some isolated incident 3 years ago. But Nancy grace doesn't give a fuck about them, so neither does anyone else.

Well, someone sure put on his judge robe today. I never said once that Caylee's case was any less significant than any of the children I mentioned, I just think it's sad that she's getting so much attention while there are so many other babies in the world who are not.

I'm afraid that this is playing right into their hands. Indeed the case is not insignificant but why so much emphasis and sensationalizing with this particular case when equally tragic cases happen within a much shorter radius of here. Why is it that Nancy Graceless insists that I be more concerned about Caylee Anthony's murder that the numerouis cases of abuse, sexual abuse, abduction or murder that MY tax dollars are supposed to fund the investigation of? I used the economy as an example because as far as I'm concerned the US Government abetted in the criminal scheme that precipitated it- where's the outrage there?

My point is that these cases are used to keep us transfixed because vocal people such as yourself are willing to characterize others as callous and uncaring about the fate of children just because we refuse to accept that this is something so important that we need the entire country focused on it.

How dare I even suggest that we pay any attention to the racketeers and corporate puppets who are supposed to be looking out for us when one little girl got killed in central Florida?

This is how these things divide as well as distract and I'm afraid that you have most likely been played by a system that is utilizing a tragedy that they care about even less than us shameful participants who dare suggest that someone in Stockton, California or Lewiston, Maine take a look away from this bait and see what their congressmen/women have done in support of the mega larceny that was the housing bubble or endangering our economic sovereignty by refusing to submit to reasonable spending limits.

Tragedy? Absolutely... but is there any rationale to justify making it a national story when it's not a missing child case and that just PERHAPS garnering the attention of 300 million plus people onto it does absolutely ZERO in the pursuit of justice- the distraction may well have factored into the results... why else would an experienced prosecutor go to such lengths tp press an un-winnable case just because he may believe that the death penalty was what the sheep would be bleating for... so to avoid the expected tide of criticism and whatever else accompanies making this the business of every gun-toting nutcase in the country in the event he didn't press what every, Tom, Dick, and Harry would think she deserved.

So he charged her with a capital felony when it seems fairly clear that he MUST have known he didn't have the evidence to prove. Plus, I can't imagine those who were playing with a full deck much appreciated the level of attention they got- akin to an accident victim's attitude to "rubberneckers" who to slow down highway traffic so they can gawk.

I don't care how long and/or "articulate" the reply, or how many statistics, or how many examples of comparable crimes have gone on....I totally agree with you.
I must admit that I have actually been shocked by various replies, attitudes, etc - especially here at hf.
I would have thought that EACH child would be considered "important", (regardless of that nutcase NG and her doing this case No Good!) but now it seems my time would be better off worrying and wondering about other more relevant things...such as what my government is doing to me. lol...gotta laugh at that

I, for one, am still bothered by this whole entire thing, and I sincerely hope that out of this heinous case in which (IMO) a murderer walked free -from the murder - Caylee's law will be enacted. What kind of ppl have we become where we have to, or even NEED to, make it law - and a felony - that a parent MUST contact the law within a certain amount of time if a child is missing.

We don't need that: we need prosecutors who do their job.

It IS a crime, it falls under other crimes. The last thing we need is MORE laws to be misused by public servants, aka attention whores with no interest in justice.

It wouldn't matter if that law existed, this was already multiple felonies, and the prosecutor decided NOT to press those charges. It's squarely his fault. This law existing before would have done nothing, because he was determined to press murder 1 to get his ten minutes of fame. That law would not have made casey anthony any more guilty of muder 1 than she is in the current situation.

I find it astonishing how so many people, here and in public, strongly "feel" that Casey should have been prosecuted. It baffles the fuck out of me. The jury had far more information before it than any of us ever will. We only know what the media told us. And you are willing to put someone away for years in prison because of what the media says? WTF happened to you to make you think like that??

Maybe we should prosecute you of a crime based solely on what the media says? Let's put you away for a few years based on rumor and conjection, with no physical evidence, and see how YOU like it.

Karma, homeboy- it ain't just for Wiccans.

Caylee's law is a TERRIBLE and vaguer than hell law. How do you judge an hour after death? What if the child dies in their sleep? Should the parent be put in prison because they didn't find out until the morning when they went to go check on the child? It's impossible for doctors or coroners to pinpoint the EXACT time of death, to the minute, so an hour is far too vague. What happens to the mother who walks into their child's lifeless body and passes out at the sight, therefore hindering the ability to call the authorities right away? Might take her over an hour to get ahold of someone, but shit, let's just lock her up, too. What about shock? This law was proposed without advice from doctors or coroners, but because the nation is all shaken up over this case, they're ready to hop right on without putting any thought into it. Yes, there should be a law requiring parents to notify authorities when their child is missing or dead, but there needs to be more research into it before passing it through. Playing on the nation's emotions to pass a law that was just thrown together is sick and twisted.

Adults are easier.. But children still little difficult, but there is some degree of accuracy... The body farm test human decomposition in many different stages of death. Children may be more difficult due to the donations of fresh bodies ..

Well, when they are able to figure it out, they can pass a law, but until then, it's jumping the gun.

    I disagree.

We don't need another law about this kind of shit.

Missing children should be reported when the parent or guardian has exhausted their own sensible options and it is clear the law enforcement help is needed to recover the child to prevent harm coming to them. Or sooner, if you're THAT paranoid.

Dead children, or anyone else, should be reported at the soonest reasonable time.

How does this take ANY special laws? We KNOW casey concealed a death, she admitted as much, she could have been prosecuted for this under existing law, it didn't happen because of an immoral attention hungry prosecutor.

    Simple as that.
