Whether or not the child's death was an accident - this woman has no business being a parent. She isn't fit to care for a pet rock. A person's physiological ability to reproduce does not mean they have the ability to be a parent. If you bring a child into this world, your needs and desires become secondary - Your child's needs come first. Creating life means taking on a profound - the most profound - responsibility. Anything short of that is reckless irresponsibilty. It's not selfish for one to acknowledge the fact that that he or she is not emotionally mature enough to be a parent - it's damn selfish and unforgivable to become a parent when you don't have the physical, emotional and psychological resources to care for and raise a child that you bring into this world.

Everything you just said is true.

But I'm curious about what context you're saying it in.

Are you saying that this would make it okay to convict her of murder, just because the prosecutor chose not to do his job, and instead, to make a grab at fame?

It would be wholly immoral and wrong of the jury to let the prosecutor push any charge he wanted, without the evidence, just because casey should have been convicted of SOMETHING. A jury doing the right thing and doing it's job, like this, is what serves to reign in tyrannical malicious prosecutors, and serve as a deterrent to this sort of charge without evidence. I hope prosecutors around the nation look at this and think twice.

I have no faith in our legal system, our courts, our laws, our law makers. My comments come from a purely moral context. From my perspective, lawyers and lawmakers are word alchemists. Most legislators/politicians are lawyers. Truth, justice, ethics - these are all subjective and relative concepts in the minds of attorneys. They are preoccupied (no matter what their motivation or world view is) with manipulating and interpreting the language of the law for their own, or their client's benefit. Truth, justice, ethics, morality - these are irrelevant with regard to their council and their actions. I refuse to hazard a guess as to what really happened to this little girl. I wasn't on the jury. I didn't watch the trial. I'm basing my entire opinion (and that's all it is) on what I know is true. A little girl died tragically because her mother was an irresponsible parent. My opinion with regard to the negligence of the mother in this case is based solely on her known actions and behavior. She might have been a good, responsible parent 90 percent of the time, but it's a 24/7 job - no exceptions In my opinion if a parent is negligent to the point of causing his/her child's death - then morally they are a murderer. I ask you (and pardon the metaphor - it's purely for effect) if you decide to get a dog for a pet and you know that the dog has the potential to run into traffic, but you let it run loose because it's too much of a hassle to keep it on a leash and the dog is inevitably hit by a car and dies - how is this different than killing the dog yourself? Same result. I don't believe in "degrees" of murder with regard to intent or negligence.

Sorry, I'm a little late on the response to this...

I read this and empathize majorly to people who feel this hits home for them-regardless of having children or not.

However, if we spent hours and weeks and days reporting such things on the news, we would have no time for other stories, specifically the small amount of good news that flashes across our tv screens once in a blue moon.

Its a sad thing to say, and I hate having to be the one to say it, but this happens almost every day across the country. Whether it be murder, abduction, child abuse, etc.

I don't think anyone is dismissing this as insignificant, but what I'm saying is this happened 3 years ago! Why all of a sudden are people crying over the child? Where was everyone when Anthony first got questioned? Where was everyone when the news first struck?

Shitty prosecutors and Casey Anthony being found not guilty sparked this whole sob story that is going viral across the web. NOW people feel bad, NOW people realize, "oh shit, there's a dead child involved. Lets start paying attention to her now!"

Minds are objective just like the rest of the Things they are observing. The left Hegel agrees with me (as does Marx more or less in the context of his historical change). But what does this have to do with Casey Anthony? :biker:

Anyone think the father was involved in this?

My feeling is: He is an X-COP,he would know how to help her cover it up so they couldnt prove anything and then lied about it on the stand....(Cops are quite good @ lying)

I have just been thinking about this....... Am i wrong to think the father is just as involved as Casey??

    Very well reasoned response.
My view on this is "When injustice comes to light it should be addressed." Perhaps that light will reflect on other tragedies. Occasionally the spotlight is switched on, for whatever reason, and notice is taken. That is when action should be taken.
Should you lose an item at night - you soon give up looking and eventually forget about it - but - if a spotlight is brought in for a while to illuminate the area then the time is right to find the lost item. Once the spotlight is taken away the item is again lost and forgotten.
The spotlight on this tragedy shone for a while to illuminate this tragedy. It should not be wasted.

You're right, it should not be wasted.

The prosecutor should be fired with the most possible dishonor, shame, and publicity. for dereliction of his duty to prosecute for actual and provable (and admitted) crimes, and greatly misusing his power to waste everyone's time, money, and emotion on a case that he had no evidence for. (and for trying to derail justice and base it on emotion, not evidence)

....and for shameless showboating, attention whoring, and attempting to generate torch-bearing lynch mobs.

"you can't let her off, she obviously did something!" doesn't fly when he's the same one who chose not to prosecute her for that something, and instead pushed charges he couldn't convict her of.

No matter if it was an accident, or a killing, she went 31 days w/o notifying the authorities. She made several lies to the police about what had happened. If it were an accident, then why did she not call the police and let them know what happened? People who hide things, lie, are usually guilty of something. If it was an accident, she should have had no problem telling the authorities it was an accident. The media sensationalizes EVERY news story to death. Been that way since the media existed. It's all for ratings, and for the news shows to get higher ratings and more people to watch them by saying "we bring the best news reporting around" and blah blah blah. This particular event is fishy though. All I know is once she is out, she will need security guards and protection, because one thing the media has right is she is THE most hated person in society right now. That's for sure.

Exactly. Anyone whose child disappears who, instead of reporting it to the police, goes out and parties with hoodlums, has a tattoo put on her back that says 'the beautiful life', tells the police a zillion lies, gets out on bond and steals and forges checks, is damned sure guilty of something. She either killed the child or was complicit in it in some way. It was the prosecutor's job to show that she was. They just didn't do a very good job of it.

OK, now I have been a lot more torn up about this than a LOT of ppl here...I don't "blame" the showboating jackasses (prosecuters) for 12 idiots that have less than a thimble of common sense and let a good-for-nothing murdering mother go free.

However, that being said...ORISON, that ^ up there, your own Beverly Hillbilly version is so bad and funny, I read it several times...it made me laugh so hard I peed myself a little. :p

wow this thread is still active?

I forgot about the **** long ago and made a decision to not pay any attention to anything she does in the future...I will however enjoy hearing about her future suicide one day when I see it in the tabloid rack at the grocery checkout

being "usually guilty of something" is far from enough to convict someone fairly of murder.

There ARE CHARGES that fit, that could have been used to lock her up for quite a spell. Again, it's only the prosecutions fault they didn't happen. They could have had like ten seconds jury deliberation time and convicted her of just about anything BUT murder, but the prosecutor chose the one charge he knew a good jury wouldn't and couldn't return, but that the public would demand of the jury.

Again: horrible person, no matter what she's guilty of, however the prosecution are basically her accomplices, they let her off. If she's bad they're worse.
