at school, if we were staying on campus to drink, we would always start the night off with champagne. we bought 2 bottles of cheap champagne, drank it in our champagne glasses, gave a few toasts for the evening, then after the champagne was gone, we busted out the camptain, or jack, we brought out the 30 racks so, it used to be pretty frequently, a couple times per week at least now...not so much
asti is nasty stuff i like cava though, strong, dry, crisp and palatable. admittedly inexpensive and nothing fancy, but its more than good enough for me. ESPECIALLY if one wants to make mimosas or kir royale or something else using champagne mixed with another item
