we used some here, well, that plumber guy did. He was to chickenshit to do it in copper. (read that as, with his lack of skill, he couldn't do it in copper)

Had no intention of bringing it up again but I thought it was pretty funny.
when I made the comment about the flesh eating disease it was because the bandaid I put on had barely covered the cut. Turns out that the box I bought was the assorted variety and I didnt know it. so the reason the cut seemed bigger was because the second bandaid was smaller.

so, im in a mood. designed a second floor addition, plus a bit of main-level adding on. playing with ideas. we are already waiting to redo the floors until we have any floorplan stuff done (no sense replacing floors twice) and of course windows need to be replaced, but cant do that until we have the exterior shape settled, everything has to look right and match. siding is the same deal. but now im thinking, if i want to add so much (no mansion, but still the biggest project ive ever considered) i should rewire the place at the same time. the walls have textured paint, that bites fingers and elbows. so i would not be against taking it down to bones, rewiring and replacing old plumbing, and then putting up new drywall. be nice to know it was done right.

current house footprint is 24x48. front door south facing. western end of the house is the garage, 12x24 feet. long and narrow, and stupid.
2 bedrooms, one bath. ranch style built in 1967. remodeled by retarded monkeys over the years. lots of crap i want to change to make it right for us.

    what i would do is:
add 4 feet to western side. make the garage 16x16, and the area behind it a very satisfactory 8x12 pantry, both accessed from the kitchen.
add 12x28 addition off the north side, open to the kitchen, for a dining area. like a sunroom. (we have no dedicated dining area now, table is in living room, kitchen too small) would likely make a laundry closet in that space, or shift a wall in the bathroom and put it in there, which is not something i like design-wise.

for the second floor i would build over the non-garage parts. (36x24) make a jack and jill bathroom, so it is accessed from the family room area and the master bedroom. attic storage over the garage, accessed from the master bedroom. two additional bedrooms upstairs.
would bring the total to 5 beds, 2 baths, office, dining room, large pantry.
and i would still be able to have the basement dug out, doesnt have to go all the way to the edges of the footprint. i would set-in the basement space by at least 2 feet, but probably 3 feet. so that would be 32x20, or 30x18. certainly enough to turn into a studio/ 1 bed 1 bath apartment.

dont bother telling me im crazy, im already well aware. but i am thinking ahead to when im working, because i know how to save my money, and put it toward goals. pay the credit debt, snowball the savings. pay more toward the principal on the house. muhahahahaha. for mine is an evil laugh. i know i have big dreams, and expensive ones too, but that doesnt mean they cant be done. im just too practical to half-ass this stuff. i want it done right.

you see why i wants to build up! and just a little bit out. need space for all the stuff i want to be able to do. rooms for kids, crafts, a guestroom. it would certainly bring our home value up near the other ones in the neighborhood. soonest we could make any big changes is about 3 years away, anyway. set goals, smash them.
