kenny said we hibernate.. um, no we dont.. the eastern tree squirrel does not hibernate. sometimes it will sleep a little longer in extreme colds. they dont store acorns in trees, even the squirrel knows acorns wont grow unless its in the ground.. more trees = more acorns.

I know that they do not hibernate here as we see them all winter. Chipmunks rarely but squirrels are out all winter.

Those and the little birds I always feel sorry for them on the really bitter days and marvel at how they manage to survive in it.

It is predicted to be 0 degrees here tomorrow am (today actually)...ZERO :yikes: wth...we southerners aren't supposed to have to deal with this! :bigcry:

Tonight I went to bff's house and washed and dried McD uniforms...also took a long hot shower.

Back home, the lights that were across the front of the house have mostly gone out but the good news is Duke Power replaced all 3 lines to the house, restoring electricity. Mama begins chattering instantly/incessantly the second I walk in (lol) about calling back the power outage people, "and just tell them things aren't right...I told them, tried to tell them, but they left"... but I knew it must just be a blown fuse or 2.

So, keep in mind here before I continue, I would rather donate an organ (like a kidney FGS!) than go downstairs to the basement and fool with the 4 (FOUR!) fuse boxes we have, trying to determine what is blown/what goes to what.

However, since donating the organ was not available, I geared up - with Mama in the lead - and go downstairs to the fuse boxES with a bag full of various strengths fuses. All I can say is I had enough sense to replace a fuse with the exact kind I took out.

I figured it out! I actually found and replaced 2 blown fuses, and everything (but the heat) is working fine. I tried/looked at more than those 2, but it was those 2 that were replaced. I knew with Mama there beside me, she would scare away any snakes interested in what I was doing. I lol...but I'm serious, too.

I'm up...the sleeping thing isn't working all that fine...but stuff regarding the house electricity is fine. [IMG]

It is 51 degrees in this house right now. A furnace man will have to be called about that.

Gotta to go work at 11:30am and not supposed to get off until 8:00. I'm not looking forward to any of that. :-/

Being here at 2:30am is probably not the smartest thing I've ever done. :)

My brother and I got Dad home from the Nursing Home/rehab yesterday. Bitter cold. Slippery roads. I made Dad bundle up for the short walk to the car and the condo. His condo is at 78 degrees, so as long as he does not lose power he should be OK. Our outside temperatures are going to be below zero and up to single digits for the next couple days. Wind chills -20 to -30's. I am so sick of this winter.

writing a boring essay today. I've discovered that the best way for me to stay focused is to set a timer for 15-20 minutes and force myself to work solidly during that time, and then allow myself 5-10 minutes of break time (random internet surfing, usually) to get the restlessness out of my system. I gradually up the time for work and lower the break time, depending on how I'm doing. seems to be working well so far.

thats the method i need to use for today. i HAVE to get stuff done. im not anywhere near "nesting" stage yet, but i knowhow hot its likely to be when i am, and i want most of the catching-up crap to be done. kid has been home, first just days off from school, then with the fever (i bet none of the other parents keep their kids home when they are sick, no, im the one who does the right thing and waits it out) so this is the first opportunity in a week that i have.

so of course my mom is smoking like a chimney in the garage, <<gag>> [IMG] and started a load of laundry, so i cant catch up on that. and had the damn radio going this morning, after waking me up with her puttering around the kitchen at 5:30. im just so sick of it. six months shes been here. and im sure she doesnt realize she has LONG overstayed her welcome. my garage reeks, all the stuff i have stored out there reeks. and she hasnt seemed to notice that i have nowhere to put the baby stuff im collecting up and washing, because normally i would use my FUCKING GARAGE for STORAGE.. but i cant, because then i have to wash it all again, so whats the damn point? so we are tripping over stuff in the living room, and she bumps stuff and bitches but doesnt seem to think its her fault. UGH. we have already displaced so much stuff i used to store out there. there is nowhere else to put the stuff. my room looks like a hoarder's. maybe not 100% hoarder, but unnecessarily cluttered and piled and stacked for sure. "where should i put this {insert kitchen item} now that ive cleaned it?" well, shit mom, i used to keep it on the wire rack in the garage, but im not about to let you nicotine-up all my food prep stuff. where are my dutch ovens? on the floor BEHIND THE GARBAGE CAN, covered in filth.
    :headdesk:
and im sick of bringing things up in a nice way, because it obviously doesnt get through to her. shes "so excited" for the baby, like she doesnt realize she isnt welcome. i DONT want her at the birth, i want happy feelings, not all the crap feelings i have for her now. and she doesnt seem to get that she is poisoning my indoor air, and she sure as shit isnt welcome to be smoking AROUND my infant. if i had bigger balls i would kick her out, but i dont need the bad feelings from casting her into homelessness either. rock, meet hard place. hard place, meet rock. I'm glad to hear that Ty and Specs dad is home!

Lynn, I hope you get your heat running soon! If you have to get someone out, tell them your mother's age so you can get close to the top of the list.
